Hey everybody,
I have been doing boxing and other martial arts for around 8 years. Now being a boxer sometimes requires you to have to drop weight quickly- i have personally dropped 3kgs or so overnight for a tournement. Now the ways that I used are a little extreme, but there are simple ways to lose weight, stay healthy and overall just feel good.
There are alot of weight loss products out these days- and look im not knocking them but some tend to potray this image that if you use there product you will start shedding that fat. The fact is that that is not true EVER!!
So... In order to lose weight:
1. Do some regular exercise- 30min- an hour per day. Its not that hard to get up and go for a fast paced walk( going slow aint going to work, the idea is to get your heart-rate up for at least 30min) walking is also better then because you lose muscle jogging where as with walking just the fat.
2. Eating habits- Ok now there are some supplements that work like a charm, with excersise and good diet. So try this... more meals through the day. Look your probably thinking "hey im trying to lose weight" but the fact is eating more small and healthy meals during the day keeps your metabolism working through the whole day as opposed to having two or three large meals where you body doesnt use all the nutrients and it just goes to fat. So aim for Brekky, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Now look when I say snack I dont mean chips, chocolate, cookies etc try something like fruit and yoghurt, peanuts are great so are almonds, fruit smoothies with no fat milk and yoghurt and add some protein mix into it-that way you have just filled yourself up and dont have to worry about it all these extra calories and fat. Plus with protein it keeps you fuller for longer.(and im not talking about the ammount a body-builder would use, just like a teaspoon or two) Also mix it up with your shakes- you can put fruits, bran, oats, yoghurt, veges and its all good for you and filling.
3. Now when you are eating dinner try not to have a large fatty dinner( steer clear of potatos at night, it will just sit in there haha) stuff like mcdonalds etc all bad anything thats deep-fried arrrrr Trans-fat, now basically trans-fat is hydrogenated vegetable oil. Now your body wasnt made to be able to break down and use this oil so when we eat it, it just gets stored as fat- yummy aye- just another man made wonder.Try and have dinner around 6-7pm and a snack around 8pm. That way your body gets working at burning that food away, but if your have say a big dinner of mcdonalds(large quarter-pounder meal) around 10pm and go to bed at 10:30pm thats just going to sit in your belly and turn straight to fat. When you sleep your metabolism slows right down and food just doesnt get proccesed.
Now look these are just a few tips, and trust me I could babble on ALL night lol Just give what Ive said a go and trust me you will notice a great change.

Its not always easy to gain weight for some people mate,

Family history plays a big part in each person's build. If you are healthy but thin and gaining weight is a problem, even when you eat a high-calorie diet, take a look at some of your family members. The genes you inherit from your parents play a strong role in body type. You can change your body to a certain extent through weights and changes in diet, but these methods, even when followed down to the T, will never turn a marathon runner's body into a something like a WWE wrestlers body.

Try adding some high cal foods to your diet and have large portions that way you get used to eating that much. Exercise will also increase your hunger so go for a walk, play some sports etc this will help you add muscle not just fat( thats if your after that)

This next few tips can be used by anybody wanting to put on some weight...
      * First up if you are in to counting calories then try and up you cal intake by about 500 p/day. In some cases maybe even 1000 cals.
*Like I said in my other post snack through the whole day, but in this case snack on high cal foods.
      * Try and have bigger than normal portions at meals aswell. If you only have a small appetite then have small but high cal meals and have them often. Also put some protien with you meals eg. tablespoon of vanilla whey protien over your brekky instead of sugar.
*Mate fat contains more calories than any other food group: 45 calories in just 1 teaspoon. Having healthy fats, such as plant oils (canola, olive, or peanut oil), soft margarines (look for those with no trans fats), peanut butter, and avocado is an easy way to add a shit load of calories without having to eat heaps more food.
*Trans fats and saturated fats are evil! All fats may contain the same amount of calories but saturated and trans fats can increase your cholesterol and other harmful blood fats.

Also here are a few ways to add it to food
      * Add more butter or margarine to mashed potatos
*•Sauté meats and vegetables in canola or olive oil or wine sauces, or add bread crumb toppings.
*•When you drink juice, you can add the most calories by drinking grape, cranberry, pineapple, or apple juice.
      *•Eat dessert after dinner.

Now these a just a few ways that you can put on weight. But sometimes and if you are like my friend then it will just be hard to put on weight but I hope you do manage to achieve you goals mate.

      Kind regards
      Todd Pierce

I've cut down a lot on meat. It kinda builds up in your system.

No trouble at all. When I want to lose weight I eat fish every day, along with fiber, dairy and lots of salads and fresh vegetables. Any time I do that I can lose an average of a pound a day for a couple of weeks, and then it drops off to about 3 pounds/week.

No, not at all. I allow my weight to range between 145 and 150. Once I hit 150, I know it's time to eat a little less, but nothing drastic. In no time at all, I'm back to 145.
