Blogging is a great way to write down some of your ideas. I think great writing needs to be entertaining. When you try to make your posts entertaining, you sometimes need to emblish your story. Like great novels or even lowly gossip magazines, a good lie usually gets a lot of attention. My niche is a shady "make money online" niche. www.bloggernoob.com/make-money-online-by-lying-your-ass-off/05/ Everybody in my niche lies.

What about your niche. Do you lie on your blog? Why or why not?

No, nothing to lie about. My blog is just my observations and 2 cents.

But it is interesting to hear that all "make money online" blogs lie...thanks for that confirmation
    1. bloggernoob
yeah, i think when somethings deals with money, u always need to be cautious. money makes people shady. i think personal blogs are the best. but when it gets popular, money comes into play. advertisers and the need to support the growing base of readers will make people emblish personal facts. that's the problem with blogs that start getting popular.
  2. drjay1966
A lot that's on my blog is autobiographical. If I don't want something I did to be in the public record, I might tell about a "friend" who did it.
    1. drjay1966
If it's something really bad, I'll call that friend "Drowsey Monkey"
    2. DrowseyMonkey
I was going to say I'll have to re-read now ... or do a search for "friend" to get the real story on you.
    3. drjay1966
Well, some of my "friends" are actually friends....
  3. Friday13
I never lie. After all, I'm sort of chronicling my life on my blog.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must get on my private jet for a quick trip around the world. I just feel like it.
    1. keropidark
Can I come too? I have just won the lotto and need to celebrate!
    2. Friday13
You won it, too? What are the chances!
    3. keropidark
Ever seen the movie with Jim Carey? Yeah there were a lot of us that day.....
    4. Friday13
Oh, noes. No wonder I'm holding a check for 17 cents.

At least I have the private jet. And that's 100% true!
    5. bloggernoob
if u are short for time, u can borrow my time machine.
  4. keropidark
I only change the names of others on one of mine. My blog is personal and I happen to be odd so no need for embelishment there.
  5. axioblogger
Lie on my blog? Nah, I am allergic to lying. You can take a look at my blog www.axioblog.com to see if I lie.
  6. SweetViolet
Well, I'll change names to protect the innocent (or save my butt from a libel lawsuit) but that's about it.
  7. keropidark
Bloggernoob do you have any particular feelings about what your niche does?
    1. bloggernoob
yes i do. i think it is filled with rats and it makes me sick to my stomach. there are a few that are good tho. my favorite would have to be makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com/

his blog is one of the rare MMO blogs that really tell it like it is. and you will learn a thing or two about search engines, thus helping you make money online.
    2. keropidark
You know the sad truth, I think any job (I assume blogging is your job) would make people sick to their stomachs. We are told from childhood that we have the capability to be anything we want and will be successful but when we actually become employed we see that evils and corruption exsist with the obtaintion (is that a word?) of materials. That's in any industry I believe.
    3. bloggernoob
actually, blogging is a hobby. i work in real estate. ur kinda right tho. money related stuff aren't really noble. We are all sellouts or whores to the mighty dollar.
    4. keropidark
You can always go with "The company made me do it" I can remember myself looking at my customers as dollar signs and was very cut throat when it came to collecting my branches money. Of course there were tears involved and rents due, but if I did not get the money owed to my branch back from the customer, I would not exceed in my job.

Wow- I had to pause because I just realized what the definition of a pimp was.
    5. bloggernoob
      what is your day job?
    6. keropidark
Well now, unemployed for those reasons. I used to be a branch manager for a florida based company called Amscot. It targets people who can not manage their money and provides payday loans. Although it is in fine print to please use payday loans responsibly. At a bank they do not loan you money if they do not think you can pay them back. At Amscot, they consiously know the person is irresponsible with money (because they take a loan for 8 consectutive times in a row. wife will take one to pay of husband's and vice versa) and they allow them so we can collect on additional fees associated with it.

I found no pleasure in promoting this practice and walked away from my big pay checks.
    7. bloggernoob
yeah. i am familiar with these types of loans. i had to get a few hard money loans for a few of my investors. i told them to quickly refinance after a certain time to get rid of those loans tho. I saw a documentary about credit card companies. i think all of these money institutions rip off consumers. the high risk (sub prime) sector is most guilty. it's one of the reasons why our economy is suffering right now. thanks for sharing your story. and i wish you luck in finding a job that isn't as shady.
    8. keropidark
      You are very welcome.
  8. Sebastyne
I am disturbingly honest when I write. I guess that is why I don't think I'll be a good writer...
    1. keropidark
A truthful one is the best in my book. I think you just mean you may not make money.
    2. SweetViolet
Creativity is everything, Sebastyne. You can be disturbingly honest and a good writer as well...one does not necessarily neutralize the other.
  9. earthlingorgeous
I always say what I feel and I don't embelish or strech out truths , LIARS are same as CHEATERS... I post whatever I want as I see it as it is...
  10. lamenews
    of course not,
that'd go against my blogeristic integrity
  11. mikodragonfly
No. If it can't be said I just don't say it. I don't really have reason to embellish the stuff I blog about. I just have a personal blog.
  12. howisbradley
Of course I lie. All the time. Or am I lying now?
  13. fated82
There is no need to lie. If I din want anything to be on the blog, i just don't put it up.
  14. poisonapplesauce
I don't because my blog is easily verifiable and so I can never stretch the truth, though it'd be nice occasionally to have one really creative post. Most of my readers take everything to literal and then go look up what I'm talking about, so alas, I am only truthful
  15. BassDem
Although anglers are notorious for telling not-so-true fish tales, I am one that does not. I may make a few guesses here and there if I forgot my scale, but I won't embellish. I'd be lying to myself in addition to my readers. I try to take photos more often than not.
  16. roentarre
I do not lie on blogs. It is something like a diary that I could look back on. It is more worthwhile if it is an accurate reflection of my life or thoughts in the blog
  17. ThriftShopRomantic
I have a humor blog where the stories are 95% true with 5% good old-fashioned storytelling embellishment. Readers coming to the site know this. And, in fact, I've got friends who participated in the tales who are comfortable with the stories, too.

I wouldn't consider it lying, as much as creative writing.
  18. Hangingonahyphen
I don't lie on my blog. I lie on my bed. Haha... Seriously, my work are fiction so everything in there is make-believe but some have basis in real life.
  19. sulz
i lie, but i end up telling the truth... some day. but i don't lie about things that matter to my readers. i lie about personal details i want to keep private for my own reasons.
  20. aningeniousname
Every word on my blog is either and outrageous lie or a slander.
  21. xmarks
A lot of what I post is about situations with/about my kids. There I don't lie but I may exaggerate for comedic effect.
  22. melindaville
Nope. My blog is all about telling my story--truthfully.
  23. kdawg68
I lie about whether I lie or not.
  24. thinkmaothink
    I over-exagerate.
  25. sayzlim
Visited your blog and read your post,

I'm one of the blogger within that niche but I'm not lying.
I share what I know... well, this niche has many different approach and your method is just one of them. No matter how they lie, those who are not noob will not fall for these marketing anymore or I can say we stay out from those marketing.

I was once a noob too, but like what people do. Everyone start from a noob in order to become skilled.
    1. bloggernoob
i think the whole money niche is scammy. most sites advertise scams. pyramid schemes, and sell get rich dreams. it took me a while to figure this out. but yeah, because a lot of new fish enter this game, it is still profitable. that is why my blog still makes me money.
  26. Euroangel
I believed sharing ideas, thoughts or opinions is not a lie!!
  27. CreativeJunkie
I'm pretty much like ThriftShopRomantic ... my blog is all about story telling my life and I do embellish for creative purposes. My stories are all based in fact but the embellishment makes them more interesting and you can tell right away what has been embellished.
  28. pinklatex
We got nothing to lie about lol...our blog is funny and observational.
  29. awordforthat
I should start. People would be smugly identifying things so matter of factly, and be so adorably wrong.
  30. ranist22
I don't but I wonder how many do?
  31. howisbradley
I will change the story a bit but it's to make the story simple than to lie. For example, a may take two people and combine them into one. Anything I change would be for reasons like that, but the stories and events are always true.
  32. blogonsmog
No - Too uncomfortable and I have back problems.
  33. JaydenVasara
i don't lie, the whole point of the blog is to be about my life. i change names here and there and other details that might make it too obvious where i am/who i'm talking about, but no lying.
  34. izwan00
I don't lie on my blog. I definitely give the real information in my blog.
  35. iam
    I don't lie. That's a fact..
  36. Tanwiratchada
Information about Thailand and my job cannot lie. I will lie if somebody do ask me, do you have bf.? I will say no for sure heheheheh...this is a lier...heheheh...
  37. fairchildonrage
never. what for? liers shouldn't blog at all hihi!
    1. fairchildonrage
      "liars", I stand corrected
  38. gabgab
Is there something to gain by lying / cheating ?

A person may lie to manipulate something ...

I don't see bloggers lying to get traffic ... i rather think they write true opinions to get respected and get readership of their sites as well as friends.

I don't agree to the idea that girls lie to have fun.
  39. bloggernoob
i think that some of you are taking the term lie too seriously. spicing up a story is a form of lie. so is leaving out info. i think that the marketing profession is all about lies. does an ipod really make you a cool geek? will that beer get you laid? will u be able to slam dunk with that shoe? will those pair of jeans make ur arse look smaller?
  40. gabgab
    @bloggernoob

yes, i think that the marketing profession tends to lie about their products. But i would like to point out that if you market your blog that way, don't you think your readers / subscribers will not gain your respect if they can identify your blog as a fake, an ads oriented blog.. In the long run, your blog will suffer, right ?
    1. bloggernoob
well. im not sure about my blog. cause it is in the shady and sleazy "make money online" niche. but a personal blog. i would think that being fake and having too many ads would hurt it in the long run. unless it has a lot of links, or if it is entertaing. in which case, it think it would help it.
  41. gabgab
    @bloggernoob

in your case, your blog suits the purpose of its creation ... to get ads money from increased traffic volume to your site.

some bloggers write to express themselves, gain friends and share resources aside from just killing time....
    1. bloggernoob
it's a good point. i guess having your own personal blog is better then just having a myspace or facebook page.
  42. Missa40
I have to admit that I do not lie on my blog. I am in the network marketing industry so I try to provide my readers with informative and helpful information that I have learned. As mentioned earlier, there are too many deceitful people out there so someone needs to actually help out from time to time.
  43. wehireu
I have plenty of self delusions, I don't need to lie intentionally.
  44. muudie
Nope! I mean come on - I just wrote a blog post about farting in front of my husband. Ha!
    muudie.com/completely-random-thoughts/women-fart-too
    1. bloggernoob
farting in front of your husband...that should be a thread in it of itself.
  45. Arashmania
I don't think I lie, do I? Well, if I do then it's so good I actually managed to fool myself! Honestly!
  46. wakasmir
Naa lying won't take anyone far but I see where you coming from... lots of bloggers these days or anyone in web business or sales lies the hell out of their numbers on clickbank or paypal.. because they have come to know the secret.. To make money they got to show what they are making, 9 out of 10 people would just buy the product cuz they wanna replicate the success.. but how many will have the time to invest in any site or blog.. not a lot
    1. bloggernoob
yeah. it's all a part of the marketing that is associated with money blogs.
  47. bahenol
    nice post...thxs
