I love fried chicken
I just made some
Since I found out the other day there are some people who don't like bacon, I was wondering if there are actually people who don't like fried chicken.

I like Pollo Loco's chicken. It's flame grilled and crispy on the outside. Im going to get some now.

They just created a Twitter account too at twitter.com/ElPolloLocoInc
    1. cookingasshole
      is that a chain?
    2. TonyB
I think so. My dogs wont eat KFC after tasting El Pollo Loco
    3. Jeunelle
Damn never had El Pollo Loco, I'll look for them
    4. codesucker
My dog absolutely loves McNuggets. If I give him 1 he'll bother me about chicken nuggets for weeks.

You know there's crack in fast-food, right?
  3. fruitcake
I like chicken and bacon...put it together and you have Chicken Cordon Bleu and I like that too!
    1. cookingasshole
for lunch I had bacon wrapped hot wings
    2. codesucker
I was always a fan of meat wrapped in meat.
    3. fruitcake
That sounds yummy! May have to try that. Do you dip the wings in bacon grease or the usual blue cheese or ranch dressing?

@codesucker: Me too...the more meat the merrier (get your head out the gutter).
    4. cookingasshole
I smothered them in homemade bbq sauce
    5. fruitcake
Smothered meat...sounds great! Can you ship that? I'm in the continental US.
    6. cookingasshole
all the recipes are on my site...I am so shameless...
    7. fruitcake
I don't want to cook it...can I ship you? I'll put you in a comfy box and send you first class. You cook and I'll clean up afterwards. And yes, you are shameless.
    8. cookingasshole
sorry, unless you are in the pacific northwest no can do. Monkeys don't like boxes
    9. fruitcake
So if I move to the pacific northwest you'll cook for me? Tempting offer I must say...
    10. cookingasshole

    1. cookingasshole
roasted is a fine alternative...I will accept that
  5. roentarre
I love fried chicken as well. Great food
  6. greencurmudgeon
Fried chicken with a bottle of ultra-hot Tabasco for added seasoning.
    1. cookingasshole
the habanero kind? That stuff rules.
    2. greencurmudgeon
That's the one. Either that or extra hot peri peri sauce, or Blair's Death Sauce.
  7. cookingasshole
    I like the 'ass' trilogy
    "Ass in Tub"
    "Ass in Antarctica"
    "Ass in Space"
    1. Floormodel
      I remember Pigs in Space.
  8. legbamel
I don't like chicken skin but I love the crunchy coating. Chicken tenders are the way to go - the best of both worlds, and no bones!
    1. cookingasshole
I strip the skin before I coat the chicken.
Bones are great! They make you feel like a carnivore. Wild style.
    2. legbamel
I generally can't get a good coating to stick to whole pieces (shut up, Anin) without the skin (shut up Anin), so I've given up trying to make fried chicken that way. Did I hear rumors of a recipe on your site?
    3. cookingasshole
it is all about the buttermilk and the timing to make the coat stick. After you apply the flour coat you have to let it sit for a while until its texture changes...maybe
    1. cookingasshole
I SO wish I had sound on my computer right now
    2. Jeunelle
      Damn that sucks
    3. cookingasshole
      saving link for later
    4. cookingasshole
I just watched it and it was freaking great!
I like the part where they rhymed chicken with chicken.
    5. Jeunelle
Yeah Mrs.Peachez got a few other videos too, all funny.
  9. onceafortnight
I actually didn't realise you could fry chicken until I came to North America. It's yummy.
    1. cookingasshole
you can fry anything. The fried snickers bar is the best ever.
    2. legbamel
Why is it that no one fries broccoli or carrots? I've had fried potatoes, okra, zucchini, even cauliflower, but neither fried broccoli nor fried carrots. Mmmm, now I'm hungry. Where's the ranch dressing?
    3. cookingasshole
      frying vegetables seems wrong
    4. greencurmudgeon
Fried vegetables are great...the word "tempura" springs to mind.

  11. ced3new
I like Hot and Spicy fried chicken, the Best!!
  12. aningeniousname
Chicken is all very nice but why would you choose chicken over duck?
    1. cookingasshole
      availability and price
    2. aningeniousname
That's true, duck is the Aston Martin of the edible bird world to chicken's Hyundai hatchback.
    3. Floormodel
      chickens are easier to catch.
    4. cookingasshole
in Portland it is legal to raise them within city limits. I have a bunch of friends with coops in their backyard. They just give me eggs though. No meat.
  13. LynneaUrania
I really don't know if I like fried chicken or not. We never had a conversation.
    1. cookingasshole
ambivalence is okay...as long as you don't dislike it.
  14. dinsquared
    Mmm. Popeyes.

I don't think I'm going to eat pork anymore, though.
    1. cookingasshole
no pork!? what a cruel existence.
    2. dinsquared
Not really. Lived most of my life without it; I'm pretty sure I can happily go back to a a non-pork existence.
    3. cookingasshole
to each his/her own...I would not want to live in a world devoid of pork. I am hungry now.
  15. Stillthinking
I love fried chicken wings. Mmmmm. I know a lot of people have issues with dark meat chicken, but I think it's tasty goodness.

Bring on the deep fried, extra crispy chicken thighs, wings, and drumsticks. Yum!
    1. cookingasshole
what sauces do you like? Or do you eat them straight?
    2. Stillthinking
I like the flavor to be marinated in and then dip them into sauce.

I like a selection. Siracha for heat, ranch for coolness, and ginger honey for a little sweet.
    3. cookingasshole
ginger honey eh? Do you make your own?
    4. Stillthinking
Yep, really simple. I cheat and use powdered ginger, just a little pinch. I use orange zest, orange juice, honey and ginger.
    5. cookingasshole
nice! thanks. I may have to rip off your idea.
    6. Stillthinking
It wasn't my idea. I got it from Food Network. I probably am leaving ingredients out. I haven't made it in a while.
    7. cookingasshole
Works for me anyway...this is my disclaimer: "All recipes herin are of my own devises or stolen from someone else and made better (they all originally sucked)."
      not that yours sucks...

    I LOVE FRIED CHICKEN
    ^_^
  18. idealpinkrose
Now, I'm suddenly craving for fried chicken.
  19. kirewass
I used to have fried chicken at least once a week but the largest producer of chicken products in Sweden has been hit by a severe food safety scare and has recalled its chicken products.

Now, consumers have found pieces of glass in a wide variety of chicken products all over Sweden and in other brands too.

So far, they haven't been able to determine whether the glass got into the products accidentally or whether it is sabotage.

I love KFC, hot or cold at a picnic. I was raised on it. Lately our local KFC employees are grade school dropouts - they can't count at all. My 3 piece has only 1 piece. My all-white has dark meat. I am tired of going back in and complaining so I don't go there anymore. Too bad because I'm sure it's still delicious!
  21. LGramlich
Chicken is the best food, imho, regardless of how it's cooked. It's good for you, it's easy to cook & chickens aren't "cute" (say, like rabbits,) so they're easier to kill, too (I used to raise various birds.) I bow my head in humble admiration of the mighty (delicious) chicken!
    1. cookingasshole
bunnies are good eating too. But you are right, you feel much more guilt ridden.
    2. LGramlich
Yes, bunnies are good, too, but I couldn't slaughter them. One my husky got a hold of a wild one & the squealing was the most piteous sound I'd ever heard. Fortunately I got him to let the poor thing go before any major damage was done.

I love fried chicken...but i think i'm due for an angioplasty soon!

I'm not sure if (angioplasty) is spelled correctly. Oops!

My brothers and son seem to live on nothing but fried chicken breasts. They think it's the be all, end all.

I prefer the chicken legs and wings. Chicken breasts tend to be too dry and chicken thighs tend to be too greasy.

Popeye Chicken is good. Their biscuits are the best!

Publix deli fried chicken is good. I also like Church's Chicken.
    1. cookingasshole
Chicken breasts are perfect as long as you cook them properly
  24. libertycast1
Yes I like to cook it from time to time.
    1. cookingasshole
how do you cook it? Particular method?
    2. libertycast1
I prefer almond oil but given its expense most of the time I do canola oil - in cast iron. Instead of straight eggs I do an egg and milk mix (more egg than milk) - the milk doesn't curdle this way and you have a crispier result with the batter. The flour I use is sifted white flour but I also mix in a bit or corn flour as well. I tried wheat flour a few times but wheat deep fried always seems to taste a bit burnt regardless if it is or isn't. I then mix in my blend of herbs, spices, etc which consist of garlic, fresh ground sea salt, fresh ground black pepper (sometimes I change it up with chipotle pepper instead), celery seed, parsley, onion, and a little bit of orange peel. Oh and I double batter dip the chicken.
    3. cookingasshole
very nice...I like to soak in a spiced up buttermilk mixture and then dredge in spicy flour mixture. I can see how whole wheat would not work out very well but the cornmeal is a nice touch I am sure.
    4. libertycast1
Corn is nice so long as you don't go overboard with it. Too much it becomes hard rather than crunchy and it can gather a gritty texture. I stick to about 1/4 corn mixed in with 3/4 white.
  25. mwaybob
    glorious fired chicken, glory glory
