I started with mini bikes when I was a kid, and that grew into an old BSA Thumper (441), a Triumph Bonneville and a Honda 450. I had always wanted a Harley but the closest I ever got to one was when a guy I'd never met drove one up to a park one evening right off the showroom floor. He was so tickled with his new bike that he let me ride it around the block when I showed a great interest in it, and it rode mighty fine, too.

Later, my obsession turned into a 1969 BMW R60 which I had for many years. It went with me when I relocated to the San Francisco bay area in the late '70's and I enjoyed many hours touring the Los Gatos mountains, Pleasanton and Livermore. It was a bike that was so smooth and quiet even the neighborhood dogs didn't know I was there until they saw me leaving. When I moved back to So Cal I sold it in a weak moment and of course I wish I still had it.

I am now without wheels by my own choosing since folks are just crazy on the roads around here.

What are your fondest memories on a motorcycle?

Yep! I had a Bridgestone 175cc, and also stuck a Villiers engine (complete with reverse gear) in Triumph Tiger Cub Trials frame. My mates were big in British bikes - Triumph Hurricane, T150 and T160, BSA Goldstar.

The big Brits were and are great bikes. Wish we had more of a selection of them over here.

I actually just got my motorcycle license last summer. I started out with a Kawasaki Vulcan 500, but it got ruined last month in a flash flood A few weeks ago, though, I bought a new bike. It's a Honda Shadow Ace, 750cc. I love it! I bought it used, but it's got so many little bells and whistles... the only thing I really want to add, at some point, are floorboards and a rocker shift.

It's finally starting to warm up a little bit so I can take the Ace on short rides. I've only logged a couple hundred miles of saddle time so far, but I'm *really* looking forward to this season!

I'm envious. I remember what getting a new bike felt like. Many happy hours to you.

I did like motorcycles, until my husband had 4 accidents on them in less than 4 years due to the fault of others. There's nothing like having to clean off exposed bone every day. We're taking a bike break now, but may get them again in the future.

I love bikes and mine is a HONDA BIZ 1OOcc, it's small and great for using in the city by chicks like me.It give's me a sense of freedom because I can go from point A to B without having to worry about traffic or parking space when I get there!

No a big motorcycle buff, I would definitely like one - yet here in Indiana I could only use it 1/2 the year. Need to move to Florida. Thanks Brian Morgan (The "Do You Know" blog)

I have wreaked every bike I ever had. So the last one I trashed I traded the crumpled up scrape pile for a snow blower, it's not as fast but I can still feel the breeze through my hair. HA

Yeah, lost my best friend to one years ago and had a couple close calls myself. But for some reason the drive to ride was hard to ignore.

That's awful, and I'm sorry to hear it. Life goes on but the world seems like a lesser place to live without them.

I'm passionate about motorcycles, having ridden them for over 30 years now. I currently own a beautiful Honda CB1300SA Super Bol D'or, a big 1298cc retro, styled on the classic CB1100R from 1981.

I've lost a few friends along the way, but never had a single accident in my entire riding life. Bikes are in my blood
