Do you Like what you Write?

The question Im asking is;
do you like to read what you write?
I like to re-read posts Ive written a couple of times and it has nothing to do with proof reading or correcting mistakes. As much as I like to read other peoples blogs, I like to read mine as well. I think it would be unfair to the reader if the author didnt like to read his own writing, it almost makes it a waste of time for the reader.

While blogging, I edit at least 3 times what I'm writing. I think I have improved a lot, but I need to improve my grammar which using dictionary help a lot. I think in about 2-3 years, the dictionary will not have any secret for me.

I LOVE what I write about. Exposure, education, information on an industry people usually aren't even aware of! Most people like to see adoption as rosey and peaches n' cream but in reality there is a huge industry behind it built on making billions of dollars and this industry doesn't give a crap about children. Exposing them gives me pleasure. I think about it when I'm not at home, and feel better after a long post on weeks of research I've been doing. Sometimes people get offended, but the truth needs to be spoken even if it shocks many. Yes, i LOVE what I write.

I do as well, but with dyslexia, it's almost necessary to read it that many times - and yes, the format makes a difference.
I can't edit at all while I'm composing it - I have to use the preview.
Then I read it two or so more times when it's already posted onto my blog, because the white on black helps me catch errors I otherwise miss. And that goes for more than grammar and spelling, but also comprehensiveness, flow, etc.-
Yeah, I had a friend in college that had dyslexia and I would help him proof read most of his papers. He was a brilliant writer but just couldnt get the grammar down. His flow of ideas from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph was excellent. I really liked reading his writing and helping him out.

I do, too. Funny actually, I learn a lot while reading my own stuff. It's sometimes the "oh yeah, I totally forgot" kind of feeling.
Often I am also envious of myself! I think the stuff I wrote when I was sixteen or so was actually brilliant and I would love to meet that guy again and have a long and deep conversation with him, get some writing tips.
I do edit too, but I do sometimes switch off the critical attitude and just read for fun.
By the way, I am currently working on a post about writing and editing ... hope to get it done today and feel free to check it out then-
I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes when I read really old stuff scribbled down in a notebook I try to remember my state of mind and try to write like that again. I think Ive grown as a writer since my adolescence days and matured in my skills but I still like to go back and read old blog posts and old notebooks because its still really interesting to read. Even though the author is yourself, its like reading someone elses writing.

Yes, for the most part, some of the darker stuff makes me cry when i re read it
and thank you for following the rules fly if I see a reposting of the community guidelines one more time today I am going to stick a fork in my own eye!-
I hear ya Kat, when I re-read a lot of my creative writing I dont necessarily cry but it does make understand the train of thought. Not all of them are pulled from personal experiences but the ones that are do evoke certain dead emotions.
And of course I would follow the rules, Im a good little fly.

haha, i get what you mean, thefly, i do that too! and sometimes when i read my archives, i feel surreal because i can't believe i was capable of that!
but sometimes i don't like what i wrote but i have a personal policy of standing by what i said. i just don't read it. -

I'm never happy with what I've written, I always think I could have done better. But like MadameX said above, once I have finished it thats it for me it's dead and I move on to the next thing and hope it's better.

Thats too bad, you might find some good material in old writings. Something you may have touched on but didnt expand. Maybe you just liked a style of writing you had and subconsciously moved away from. You never know what you can find in old writing and even recent writing. I get a kick out of my stuff still.

Oh, I love what I write - otherwise I wouldn't write it;-)
Yes, I do read back through my earlier posts and writings. Sometimes I find typo's, sometimes I wonder WTF was I thinking, but many times I'm blown away by how good that stuff is, That I've written.
Now if I could just get the rest of the world to agree with me:-D-
Thats my problem too, haha. I just need the world to realize what I realize, that I write awesome, haha.
I hear ya though, a lot of old stuff is really good and I go back to it from time to time. It really is like reading someone else's thoughts because it was in a different state of mind. Not necessarily for the grammar or flow but just for the ideas.

I have a love-hate relationship with what I write. I don't post it until I'm really happy with it (one reason I don't post every day--it takes me a long time to get it to where I really like it). So, I enjoy re-reading it. However, I always find stuff that could be better, as well--just can't turn off that critical eye.
-
People tell me they like what I write and I figure I'll have to be satisfied with that. I blog current events and, if I rewrote and edited as often as I'd like, I'd be blogging history
-
I like to read some of my stuff. I'm very critical of myself, so I don't always like what I have written (blog, poem, creative or otherwise) even if others like it.
There are things that I love though. Things that I am slightly shocked that I wrote. -
I always go back and re-read my posts. Sometimes I do it to re-live the memory, sometimes it's to examine my style, sometimes it's because I'm looking for some inspiration for another post.
-
I agree. I think the author should be excited about their own writings. I think it's a good thing.

I like what I write for the most part. It seems like there's always one post every so often where I realize, "Wow! That was a really good post! All my ideas came together and it was well written!" But of course, that is not every post, so I try to do the best I can and move on from there.
-
Yeah, I enjoy what I write and what my friends write for our blog. If I didn't I wouldn't post it to begin with. Although, sometimes I'll re-read a post and say ''Why did I phrase it like that?'' or ''How come I didn't catch that error?'' You know, little things like ''their'' will be written as ''there' or whatever.
-
And it shows, when you're not excited or thrilled about what you're writing you can't expect the reader to be! Sometimes i laugh out loud ... lol ... when I read things I had written earlier.
-
I notice changes in my thought realm and writing style when I go back and read stuff I wrote years ago.
Some I like some I don't. Some seemed so important to me at the time I wrote it, yet when I look at it now, I think...hmmmm...I wonder why I saw it that way or...
I like to read what I have written, and some are written with such depth and other things seem so shallow.

only for you sweetie muahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
oh rg is writing a new post as we speak, I can't talk to him til he's done whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa -
Of course I like what I write. Would I bother writing if I didn't?
But ... I only read what I've written right after I'm done writing, to check for typos or see if there's anything that could be added, or expressed in a better way and, perhaps, to see what part of the post a comment is making reference to. Otherwise, no. Once it's out there, it's out there and quickly becomes past history (of myself).
I might consider going back to read some of the earlier stuff ... but only if that were the only thing I can do at any given moment. I mean ... after looking at some (usually short) forum posts of mine from last year or earlier, and seeing how not-so-helpful or even not-so-mature they are, I don't want to think what a larger body of text written by me two years ago might contain! Oh, the horror. -
-
I looked at some really old posts of mine from a while ago. I used to blog at another place, so I've been around since April 2, 2004.
I look at some of them, and think, "Wow, I really did have issues." -
I do, like it, especially when it feels like a post has come to life. I can be pretty self critical when I read back and think "oh that was pointless" or "wow, that's just plain sentimental" but sometimes it feels like I've actually nailed a thought or idea and when I do it makes me happy.
-
I like some posts better than others, but overall, I feel the stuff I write is along the lines of what I hope it would be.
I love the writing process, and how seemingly nothing can become something. -
ha, yes. its common knowledge among my friends that nobody laughs harder at my own jokes than me.

I love what I write because it can be related to everyday living. It don't get any better than that.
