I once write for the art community and it's the most exciting thing to do. The fun usually starts when artists gather around and talk about how they come up with this or that. They all come in all shapes. sizes and neurosis but it is always rewarding to find a really good artwork. I think art is dynamic and should not be only confined in museums. What do you think?

I featured an artist from Ireland by the name of Donie Ryan and asked him questions relating to his art. I came up with the insights here:

celticmusicfan.wordpress.com/2009/08/09/donie-ryanthe-irish-painter-is-also...

Questions:
1. Do you also create art ?
2.What media do you use?
3. Are you an artist on the side or is it a profession?

Celtic, I am interested in how you became so fascinated by Celtic music and culture?
    1. celticmusicfan
It must be brought about by the Spaniards who colonize the Philippines in 1521. You see some of them were from Galicia which is a Celtic province of Spain. Genetics? Or just coincidence ...
    2. Stillthinking
I was just wondering. I wasn't sure where you were from. Celtic music and dancing have a huge following in here in the US, but that is because there is a size able Irish population.

Thanks for asking The thing about Celtic music is that it is not just about Ireland or Scotland. It also includes the seven Celtic nations like Galicia ,Wales,Brittany,Cornwall, and the Isle of Man which is a teeny weeny island off the coast of Ireland. So it takes all kinds. And it is spread around.

actually hearing myself talk like this makes me giggle.
    4. crpitt
I don't think its genetics as you identify more strongly with all things Celtic a lot more than I.
    5. celticmusicfan
Oh yeah i just realize that LOL .I also noticed watercolor brushes on your header. Do you paint?
  2. crpitt
I will answer the questions properly

    Questions:
    1. Do you also create art ? I doodle which is just a way of expressing a particular mood without writing anything, mainly serious situations but with a funny twist. I don't consider it art.

2.What media do you use? I usually draw on paper, use pencils, pens and occasionally charcoal, then scan it so I can post it on blog. I also use computer programs such as MS Paint.

    3. Are you an artist on the side or is it a profession?
No tis just a doodle hobby.

I am far to heavy handed for painting, but would love to go to a few classes.
    1. celticmusicfan

    Work full time on it.
    1. celticmusicfan
I checked out your artworks and I like them.Does run run in your family? Or did you acquire the passion when you stumbled upon it.
    2. TJlubrano
Oh you are really good! I like your art!
    3. jafabrit
I've always been creative but I didn't do any fine arts/painting until I took my first painting class at 40 and that was it.
Creativity runs in the family in one way or another.

      thanks for the compliments
  4. Deray28
I can't draw or paint to save my life. The best I have done were a few online paintings on a site called mrpicassohead.
    1. celticmusicfan
It it ok after all as long as you are doing it and having fun at the same time, that's what counts. And the same spirit behind posting all these threads here at BC
  5. TJlubrano
Okay I shall answer the questions:

    1. Do you also create art ?
I create art ^_^! I love to draw and to illustrate special events or just normal situations in life. My focus is now on chibi's, which is an anime drawing style. It's fun and quick to make! On my blog you can find the sketches I make to illustrate the stories I'm telling. I do draw more technical, but haven't posted anything of these just yet.

    2.What media do you use?
At the moment I use; pencils, fine liners, watercolor, brushes and acrylic paint. I draw on normal paper and redraw it on more heavy paper, it depends on what I want to do with the drawing tho. Oh I forgot, I also have a drawing tablet, but still need to practice with it.

    3. Are you an artist on the side or is it a profession?
At the moment it something I do on the side. But I would love to do more with it! I get more and more request to make cards, book dividers, small sketches and so on .
    1. celticmusicfan
Thanks for sharing with us your talent TJlubrano .I love anime!
    2. TJlubrano
You're very welcome ! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Anime is really cool indeed! Do you watch anime yourself?
    3. celticmusicfan
Yes I have Naruto and Dragon Ball anime series in DVD
    4. TJlubrano
Oh cool! I watch Naruto Shippuuden with my little bro. I also watch Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist ^_^. How about Studio Ghibli?
  6. LGramlich
    1. Do you also create art? Yes.
    2. What media do you use? Acrylic paints & digital photography, primarily.
    3. Are you an artist on the side or is it a profession? It's a side profession. The 2 are only mutually exclusive if the "powers that be" in the art world have selected you for exhaltation. The rest of us are still paying our bills with more traditional employment.
    1. celticmusicfan
I agree. That also applies to musicians. Well I guess being an artist also means knowing the ins and outs and how to get through everyday. If art is all about creativity , then finding means to get money is one of the traits of an artist

I am not artistic so I create art through food. I can not draw even stick figures. I can not decorate a cake to save my life. But I can make food and arrange it on a plate to make it look good and it tastes good.
    1. TJlubrano
I think that's a way of art too! And it can create the illusion that the food tastes even better ^_^! When I cook at home, I also make sure that the presentation is good! Not too perfect, because otherwise you will be afraid to eat it haha.
    2. celticmusicfan
That's why when people tell me that what they do is not art because it's about food i think that's b.s. Artistry is applied in everything: food, landscaping, etc. I think there is always a bit(if not all) of art in everything. that includes cooking.
  8. Theresa111
    Yes. All kinds. Both.
    1. celticmusicfan
Hi Theresa. Thanks for dropping by and sharing.
  9. melindaville
I do artwork, including painting--but I am honestly not the best artist. I enjoy doing it though--and I don't care much what other people think of my artwork.
    1. celticmusicfan
Yeah I agree Melinda. I'd say if you have the passion just do it. To hell with them :)I'd really want to see that 'stained glass artwork' you did one day.
  10. kerenfathi
I paint with oil and acrylics. Its just a hobby though had few offers but I cant let them go...
    1. celticmusicfan
Care to share them with us?
  11. nothingprofound
I try to paint thoughts with words. That's one kind of art. But my real art is the art of living.
    1. celticmusicfan
Thanks for your input np. Yes there can be no greater art than life itself. Thanks to everyone who shared his and her input.
  12. jkkh68
What do you people think of figure drawing?
Some people i know don't like it.
But I think it is beautiful.
  13. jkkh68
I am an artist on the side, usually sketch with pencils.
  14. Anok
I paint, sculpt and draw, I have a bachelors of fine arts, and I do custom paint and pinstriping on motorcycles, cars, and accessories!

My mediums usually include: Oil paints for classical art, appropriate paints for murals, cars, and other items (fabric paint for jackets that sort of thing), pencil or (vine) charcoal for drawings, and a sulfur based clay and plaster for sculpting.
  15. Chucklington
I haven't painted in a while. I used to draw a lot and sold some pictures...musst get back into it.
