Praying for what?
Praying for me is the same as hoping that if you think long enough about it, luck will come to you and you'll hit the jackpot.
Somebody or something you don't know will help you beat the odds.
Well, I do not really think so but if it makes you feel better, I'm all for it

Yes. I believe in God and I start every day by saying Thank You to Him for 12 things to focus me on what I have to be grateful for instead of thinking about what crap lies ahead in my day. I also say the serenity prayer many times in the day! - it seems to be appropriate for most circumstances...
God
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And wisdom to know the difference
Amen
Maybe not for everyone, but seems to keeping me sane - and off booze - this last 10 weeks. -
While driving to office and back to home, I look around and see so many people around. And I cant help, but everyday my mind wanders towards the 'meaning' of what we keep doing day in and day out. I realize that the 'rat-race' never ends. I realize that the King of the Kings and poorest beggar are the same, provided each understands the true meaning of happiness. I realize that both will die the same death in the end.
I realize that perhaps the things we keep running after, don't matter after all. I realize that I should strive to be a better person everyday.
Maybe, that's prayer. Dunno -

Prayer like life is unique experience to each person. Prayer is very personal. As commonly defined, prayer is the deepening of one's personal relationship with God. It is an art of communicating between you and Him. It involves your talking and listening to God.
And what if we will no longer pray? We will soon find out that we no longer recognize and hear Jesus Christ talking to you through the circumstances of your life. Prayer is turning to God and without it our lives become progressively more self-centered. -
Yes, I am a Muslim and I pray to Allah for His help regarding this word and the hereafter.
I do this because (Allah Almighty) the Originator of the universe revealed the follwing verse on His last Messenger Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) :
"And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am near; I answer the prayer of the suppliant when He calls on Me, so they should answer My call and believe in Me that they may walk in the right way".
(The Holy Quran Ch:2 Verse 186)
I am thankful to my Creator who answers my prayers (sooner or later).
I prayer both in a formal way (Five times daily) and in an unformal way (many times in a day). -
I am non-religious. But I do pray. In the morning I say "help". At night before sleep I say "thanks." "Who should I say it to?", I once asked. "Say it to your door-nob if you want," I was told. "Just do it."
I do have a basic faith. And hope. My faith is there is a reason for existence. My hope is that reason is good.
One further note: I'm in an alcohol recovery program but beleiving in a higher power could restore me to sanity/sobriety was difficult. I have trouble getting my mind around the word "God", I complained.
"Fine," was the answer. "Just add another letter "o" to god, see if that works. "Good?" I thought. Yeah, I believe in good. I've long said when I see a child in a protective family/environment, the child is PROOF that "good" exists! So - instead of the word "God" in my prayer, I often use the words "Good" or "Love."
"Good, help me make it through today." "Love, thank you for tonight."
Simple? Yeah. For today. I am sober. Today it works. -
I also meant to say,I have a one on one with GOD. I don't go 2 church,l did get a little jaded @ church but I do have a very personal intimate (not in the sense, most of y'all think) relationship with GOD.
I lost my father 2 suicide @ a young age,I'm in the process right now of trying to keep my mother's exhubby from doing the same thing.
Not exactly the kind of dads u look up 2,so if I didn't have my true father I probably would have ended up the same way -
No. Whether I pray or not, I'll still be blessed by the Flying Spaghetti Monster and His noodly appendages.

What sort of prayer? if ur telling me about those listed in the books performed uniformly...same intro, same ending...those are insane. Prayer is rather a conversation with the Divine and not measured by the loudness of...hallelujah!!! or amens!!! or alive, alive, alive for whateverr...
You believe in the Divine? Those senseless dehydrating litany prayers are absurd if He alone can read your thoughts and yet no words are needed to utter. -
Also another prayer that I pray, that I probably don't pray often enough is........
Jesus, thx 4 the problems I do have. Thx 4 my girls being healthy! Please watch over the families who have a loved one that is sick. Thx 4 my many blessings! In ur name amen!
Then my girls usually go yay jesus and do spirit hands! (Just started coaching their cheering squad) -

No I do not pray. Prayer involves cogitation (thinking). To pray is to entreat or implore and is often used as a means of introducing a question, a request, or plea addressed to a deity either, on the behalf of the person praying, or on behalf of of another person, institution or city, country, nation, etc.
I don't believe that deities of any kind actually exist, so. I meditate.
Meditation does not involve cogitation at all. Meditation is not thinking, it’s the opposite of that, it’s non-thinking. Meditation does seek for information or make inquiries. It does not ask that a wish or desire be granted; it does not seek intervention on the mediator's behalf, or the behalf of another person, institution or city, country, nation, etc.
Meditation is the stilling of the mind and body through focus on breathing. During meditation all the things associated with the ego driven "self" like greed, anger, hate, etc. dissolve, The mediator becomes conscious that there is no self; there is no distinct being that is separate from the universal stream of pure consciousness -- quiet joy, peace and love.
I sit to meditate everyday and usually more than once a day and I also do a walking mediation once each day. In between I endeavor to be remain in a state of meditative mindfulness at all times during the day. -

Bow my head? Not usually... Say a quick thought to God... Pretty much every day.
I am also teaching my younger kids now about prayer. They are not quite old enough to know exactly what it is, but they will. -
I don't plan to but it does usually work that way. A wonderful friend, a beautiful sight, I thank the Lord. A small sin, or great sin, I pray for forgiveness or guidance or both. A curiosity, an idea strikes my fancy, I talk to the Lord about it. Something scares me, I pray for protection. Someone needs prayer, I pray with them. Something I need to know, the Spirit talks to me.
