I designed my own header because I need to put my logo to the header and designed it in the similiar theme style as my blog. Another reason is because I culdn't find any free header download that perfectly match to my blog graphic-identity.blogspot.com. This discussion is also open for header replacement troubleshooting and resource links. Have a fun discussion!!

Personalizing/creating your own header is a great way to show the difference between your blog and others. It creates tone, gives visitors an idea of what they might find in your blog, and really is good for overall branding.

So while it might be more trouble to try to create your own header, it's not a bad idea to help you stand out.

Creating your own header isn't that hard and you can really make it work with the personality of your blog. If you download one that's any good, the odds are high that other people will agree and use the same one.

My header is a blog banner made from bighugelabs.com in this link
    bighugelabs.com/flickr/blogheader.php
with my own photo and I use photo editor in paint.net to make minor changes. Attached are samples of photo banners made from bighugelabs. The site seems to indicate the banner appropriate for wordpress blogs and I use the a modified version of the first one in my photo blog hintheman.blogspot.com

I am proud of my amateur photos but I wish I can have your skills and the software in refining the photo banner with graphics. Please share with us the software and links that we can reference in making your own logo.

I put in a blog post to show all the links to make blog header/banner in this blog post

      techtheman.blogspot.com/2007/08/flickr-blog-banner.html

That link is not specific to flickr as the photo can come from any URL or local file.

I did try to experient with the header of my personal blog:
    meghamathur.blogspot.com/
But being totally blank as far animation / graphics is concerned, could just manage the look I finally have.

You just need to create bigger header size to suit your whole template I think..

I was well chuffed to design my own. I used good old microsoft publisher together with one of my own photos. Now I have the settings I can change it easily, ie current one is of the North York Moors only a couple of days ago.
It did take me a while to get this sorted, but well worth it now.
I will change the picture tomorrow, being the first day of September. I think I will change the picture every month.

I made my own header. It's important to have something that will make your website stand out from others and that's a very easy brandable way to do so.
You can see mine here: antibarbie.net

my own... (thats why i dont have header on my blog yet because it still in the making..)
but it does not hurt to try the ones downloadable once in a while as long as you like it and it suits your personality or the image that you want your blog to create..

    Antibarbie,
Your header design is one of a kinds, yes it is quite easy brandable as I must agree with you. The blend you make for the header background to your site, really does work to the viewer's eye, and everyone get easily understand what your blog about.

    Hiraia,
Hurry up, make one!! We want to see it
