A horror movie has to be pretty realistic to scare me...or have an insane thriller aspect...Like the Shining...If it's a situation that can happen to me, I freak out.

Case in point. I just watched The Strangers.

I am NEVER ever buying a house in the woods or away from civilization.

Now I have to go research what the news said about that couple...

Do you scare easily? What kind of horror movies do you get off on?

I do scare easily at work but not at home. Work requires me to pay very close attention to detail. There are quite a few times where someone sneaked up on me and scared the poo out of me.

I'm pretty much in my own world when I'm at home and there have been times where I've screamed because my brother sneaked up on me in the morning.

hehe yeah I have had that problem too. I used to come home from work at 6 in the morning and my brother would just say hi while in the dark and it would end up scaring the crap out of me.

I get way too scared, especially with movies. You know the annoying person that always screamed when something startling happens on screen? That's me. Any kind of movie, if it has a suspenseful scene has me scared. It's a little embarrassing. I think I'm just extremely susceptible to the way filmmakers create suspense. I've finally learned to just close my eyes and remind myself that it's just a movie whenever I get to any scary part. I might miss out on half the movie, but at least I can sleep at night.

You miss the best parts!! LOL

As far as horror movies go, I like a good psychological scare. Blood and guts in a horror flick is cool - the effects are fun to watch - but not very scary. Still enjoyable in most cases, however.

Do I scare easily? Not by movies these days, no. Too much flash, not enough substance.

I'm with you on The Shining. Hell, named my site after Room 237. Even if the book had a different number.

Plausibility is frightening. So the stuff that gives me the chills, similar to what PrincessQuelo said ("if it can happen to me"), is usually stuff that is realistic, believable, and that I could see happening in real life.

I read the book when I was home alone one night when I was a freshman in high school.

      Yeah. I'm an idiot. LOL

I don't scare easily, but when I am already stressed I startle easily. Ask my friend who thought coming up behind me and trying to scare me last Halloween if it was a good idea. I probably only jumped an inch, but the back of my head impacted with his face and the back of his head hit the driveway, I sort of doubt he will try for a repeat.

    Q: Do you scare easily?
    A: No

I don't watch horror movies. I just not drawn to them and never have been.

I am NEVER ever buying a house in the woods or away from civilization.

... lol ... FWIW I do live in a house in the woods on a very small island and I never want to move back to the "urban jungle" that some refer to as "civilization". It's my experience that those who live in small communities where they must rely on one neighbors they know for healthcare, emergency assistance, firefighting, food, transportation and other service delivery, rather an government bureaucracies are far more "civilized" and tolerant than those, who choose to in the anonymity and/or subculture ghettos based on ethnicity, age, race, etc. that life in highly populated cities creates.

    Not really.

Unless something is wrong with one of my kids or I can't find them.
That scares the Sh*t out of me.

"Unless something is wrong with one of my kids or I can't find them"

Yeah, but that's a totally different type of scare.
  9. pumpkinlights
OMG YES! I scare way too easily.

I don't think a movie has been created that I find truly scary.

    "Boo!" Happy Halloween!

Yes I scare easily. And I really hate zombie flicks... just something about them that haunts me in my nightmares.

I try to not to watch horror or suspense flicks but somehow get dragged to them by my friends. I would then be forced to screen scary parts of the movie by covering my eyes.

Not easily but I have to say Cape Fear had me shielding my eyes which is rare. My sister still hides behind the sofa at anything scary.

Find I get scared at the most odd and unusual times, horror movies bore me, but at times I get freaked out by things that wouldn't normally freak me out...shyness keeps me from sharing specifics!

I'm the kind of girl that'll scream in fear when a waffle pops out of the toaster. LOL

Lol- saw The Strangers and I agree it was mad creepy. I scare easily, I have GAD so not only do I scare but I have panick attacks in the theatre. Embarrassing.

I don't "scare" easily, but as a hypervigilant person, I "startle" easily. You should see me when the toast pops...even when I'm expecting it.
    1. PrincessQuello
Did you see the reply I wrote above? LOL
    2. LGramlich
Actually I hadn't. I have now, though! That's too much. At least you can sympathize.
    3. pumpkinlights
Oh I hear you. You know those little cans of Pillsbury biscuits? The ones when you peel the wrapper off so far, the can pops open. I can't open those. The pop freaks me out.
    4. LGramlich
      pumpkinlights; I don't open those, either. I did...once. *L*

Sarah Palin scares me. A lot. If they make a Sarah Palin movie, it would scare me. A lot.
    1. PrincessQuello
You know they're going to. LOL
