A horror movie has to be pretty realistic to scare me...or have an insane thriller aspect...Like the Shining...If it's a situation that can happen to me, I freak out.
Case in point. I just watched The Strangers.
I am NEVER ever buying a house in the woods or away from civilization.
Now I have to go research what the news said about that couple...
Do you scare easily? What kind of horror movies do you get off on?

I do scare easily at work but not at home. Work requires me to pay very close attention to detail. There are quite a few times where someone sneaked up on me and scared the poo out of me.

I get way too scared, especially with movies. You know the annoying person that always screamed when something startling happens on screen? That's me. Any kind of movie, if it has a suspenseful scene has me scared. It's a little embarrassing. I think I'm just extremely susceptible to the way filmmakers create suspense. I've finally learned to just close my eyes and remind myself that it's just a movie whenever I get to any scary part. I might miss out on half the movie, but at least I can sleep at night.

As far as horror movies go, I like a good psychological scare. Blood and guts in a horror flick is cool - the effects are fun to watch - but not very scary. Still enjoyable in most cases, however.
Do I scare easily? Not by movies these days, no. Too much flash, not enough substance.
I'm with you on The Shining. Hell, named my site after Room 237. Even if the book had a different number.
Plausibility is frightening. So the stuff that gives me the chills, similar to what PrincessQuelo said ("if it can happen to me"), is usually stuff that is realistic, believable, and that I could see happening in real life. -
I don't scare easily, but when I am already stressed I startle easily. Ask my friend who thought coming up behind me and trying to scare me last Halloween if it was a good idea. I probably only jumped an inch, but the back of my head impacted with his face and the back of his head hit the driveway, I sort of doubt he will try for a repeat.

Q: Do you scare easily?
A: No
I don't watch horror movies. I just not drawn to them and never have been.
I am NEVER ever buying a house in the woods or away from civilization.
... lol ... FWIW I do live in a house in the woods on a very small island and I never want to move back to the "urban jungle" that some refer to as "civilization". It's my experience that those who live in small communities where they must rely on one neighbors they know for healthcare, emergency assistance, firefighting, food, transportation and other service delivery, rather an government bureaucracies are far more "civilized" and tolerant than those, who choose to in the anonymity and/or subculture ghettos based on ethnicity, age, race, etc. that life in highly populated cities creates.

Not really.
Unless something is wrong with one of my kids or I can't find them.
That scares the Sh*t out of me. -
Find I get scared at the most odd and unusual times, horror movies bore me, but at times I get freaked out by things that wouldn't normally freak me out...shyness keeps me from sharing specifics!

I don't "scare" easily, but as a hypervigilant person, I "startle" easily. You should see me when the toast pops...even when I'm expecting it.

movies don't scare me, but the other day my dog was staring at the door for no apparent reason and I was home alone and that totally freaked me out!!
