I plead guilty to that...but don't tell anyone.

    I enjoy smoking

      hi miso,
yes we all enjoyed smoking but it takes its toll on our health(in the long run...).We will realise later on in our lives when we grow older.

I do not smoke. I would prefer to live a long life.

If anyone smokes near me, even for a second, I spend the rest of the day coughing. I hate smokers.
    1. oboris1
that is so very true I am a smoker and avoid smoking in public.Smoking should be banned so that it would make it difficult for us to find a stick easily.i am for it though I am a smoker. This way young people would not smoke,I suppose so.

I wouldn't say that I hate smokers, but I'm a bit sensitive to smoke, too. I can tell when I'm downwind of a cigarette or cigar by the cough.

      oboris1: good for you. Thanks.

However, I would (and did) say that I hate smokers. They're just wanna-be flamers, what with the fags hanging in their mouth. The cigarette is a symbol of the penis, after all.

      ...

I apologize right now if anyone was actually offended by this statement. It was a run-away pun. I don't actually hate smokers (my mom smokes!), gays, or anything except the willful ignorant.

I quit smoking a little over a year ago now. I used a drug called Chantix to help me quit. Chantix blocks the nicotine receptors in your brain from getting the nicotine when you smoke so smoking become pointless. However you still have to overcome the want for cigarettes and that is just not fun. So you still have to really want to quit even with Chantix. Even now a year after quiting I still get a craving every once in a while, it's just not as strong as before.
    1. Sway
anyway, I started smoking when I was 16 because all of my friends were smokers. I was also doing a lot of drugs at the time so that might have something to do with it.
    2. LGramlich
I quit with Chantix, too. My breathing's gone to hell after I quit, ironically. I guess it's just all that crap slowly working its way out of my lungs, but sometimes I'm tempted to have a smoke just so I can BREATHE again! (I don't give into that temptation, btw.)

I smoke like a chimney. I did stop for a year and a half, but my goodness being a non- smoker was DULL.
    1. Sway
it is weird to go places and sit in the non-smokers section

I fume from time to time (old joke), but didn't start smoking. Just as well. I understand it's - challenging - to quit.

My father did - quit that is - transitioning from cigarettes to pipe to nothing.

About the 'why do kids start?' question - It's hard to tell.

Entertainment media, in America at least, hasn't been pushing smoking as a 'cool' thing to do for quite a while now.

On the other hand, I've seen teens in public, striking 'cool' poses with a cigarette - so I suppose there's something to the 'the movies made me do it' idea. I suspect peer pressure and daft curiosity are factors, too.

What if cigerattes go off the local shelf, and were to be sold with a doctors prescription like all other medicenes, though it is not medicene. But younger generation would be shielded from it.And smokers would go underground. But the big question would COMPANIES let it go so easily and governments who profit from the taxes.I wouldnt have smoked if the pack was so easily avaliable. It is easy to get a smoke like mineral water you see. There is a less percentage of drug addicts than smokers.Isnt smoking an addiction.

Too much money involved in the tobacco industry for that to ever happen...
  11. dlowe
I smoked a pack and a half a day from the time I was 12 till I was 28. The day my oldest son was born the urge completly left me and I haven't craved or touched a tobacco product since.
    1. Sway
Thats how powerful physiological motive is, now just imagine trying to overpower that only that motive is to keep smoking.
  12. shadow626
    only when i'm drunk...

I hate smoking with a vengeance, and people who smoke near kids is my pet peeve: grrr. I hate seeing people smoking in cars with kids in the back. I also hate having to walk through that stinky haze at the doors to shopping centres. My husband is a smoker and now I get that stinky haze near my front door. I know how difficult it is to give up though - he's tried heaps of times and always fails.
    1. oboris1
That is called addiction which is easily avaliable with the local shop

I did well over twenty years ago. I am glad that I quit, my motivation at the time was my hubby is asthmatic, and the slightest bit of cigarette smoke causes him to cough and cough for hours.

I am so glad I quit, I can't imagine trying to come up with the bucks to pay for them now, the price of cigarettes is unreal to me now, considering when I did smoke they were 75 cents a pack or less, and everyone was swearing that if they ever went over a dollar they would quit!

How can anyone afford to smoke and drive a vehicle at the same time anymore
    1. dlowe
I was at Farmer Boys in downtown Riverside, CA eating lunch and saw this elderly couple park in a handicap space near where I was eating. They had the windows rolled up and the man driving was smoking. When they got out of the car the lady got out of the passenger side and she was pulling an oxygen tank.

      It made my stomach turn.

No, I'm borderline asthmatic, so smoke really gets to me. I can't imagine how I'd be if I were Allergy-girl, PLUS a smoker. Not pretty!
  16. robinj
gave it up 8 yrs ago don't miss it but my sister who had half a lung removed with cancer still does which may just give a hint to how much more addictive they have made them
  17. mizhelena
yes.. ive managed to quit everything but the friggen fags..
  18. CrotchetyOldMan
    I never smoked.

Both my parents, and all my grandparents did and died from smoking related illnesses. That's called a clue.
    1. curlydesigh

Quit last year!! Smoke free for 14 months now. First 3 days mild torture, after 1 week not that bad, weird thing is, at around 4 months the cravings came back hardcore but then went completely away after about 6mos. My wife still smokes & I haven't cheated once. I just tried to be honest & keep it real. I loved to smoke & I still love the smell. I didn't fall into trap that everything will smell, taste & feel better. I haven't noticed much of a change to be honest. I'm just proud that I was able to quit. I never attempted to quit before (okay once when I was like 23, my girlfriend broke up with me & I thought it would be a good thing to quit to try & get her back....duuuumbbb)

Anyway, keep trying if you want to succeed!
    1. oboris1
oceans you sound so easy to quit smoking.Whish everyone would be so positive like you are.Glad you quit.

Every one here is of one opinion smoking is bad and even smkers admit it.I hope smokers would post their health related stuff, so that others could try and stop smoking.( so bad even i am a smoker i try to quit but get drawn in to it.My mouth gets stuck every night I smoke but I say to myself tomm. I will quit but I then say again tomm.)...We all need to quit smoking.
  22. chanteusesanders
