my recent post was about how you have butterflies in a new relationship which fade over time. If you have an opinion on why this happens, I would be most interested! Happy Saturday Night!

    Well, do you want the psychological reason why?

    Think of it this way... when you jump into a hot shower, it feels hot at first, but then you get used to it and it feels warm. That is because continued stimulation becomes less stimulating over time.

    What was once surreal becomes expected. What was once uncharted territory (creating heightened awareness) eventually becomes the norm.

    Exciting huh?

      @wagerwitch...
      How long has it been for you to still have them?

    if you want to keep the butterflies .. you need some Papillon dogs! (papillon = butterfly in french)

    I still have plenty of butterflies in my backyard.

    Also a butterfly in my stomach everyday at work!

      @ roentarre,
      Why at work...does someone there give you butterflies???

    Yes. I keep them right above my bread basket and to the left of my funnybone.

    No butterflies, just roaches. Those big, veteran roaches that chase you.

      Beware of the roaches....they carry disease.

    I think its just natural physical manifestation when early stages of relationship when you still both feel vulnerable and a little bit insecure.

    in the beginning of a relationship everyone is on their best behavior and you don't realize a person's flaws. The butterflies tend to disappear pretty fast.

      @intarso,
      Perhaps the butterflies see the flaws and they head for the hills!
