If anyone wants to help I'd happily return the favour

Yes but a small portion of my stumbles are my own posts

You should consider joining us at the stumble project. You need to register to view the posts

    www.lovesickalien.com/forums/

But it is well worth registering,if you are interested in improving your stumble traffic.(it is quick and does not cost anything and I have not received any spam related to my participation)

I am just a participant and have found it to be well worth the time compared to my other promotional activities so I thought I would pass the word.

AND how does it improve you geting "targetted traffic"? ;o)

If it is good, maybe you could share some big benefit you have gained. ;o)

Gives your post a little more weight if you like, and you get the boost of trust, naturally.

Just the way it is you know, nothing personal. ;o)

You saying you don't get spam is fair enough, but I am more interested in what I can give and recieve that will improve things, for me and for everyone.

If you get a ton of great things, spam is a small "hassle".. you know. ;o)

The point I am trying to share is paint the positive that means something. ;o)

Speaking from experience, the Stumble Project is a great community of stumblers, all keen to help each other out.

Another good project is the StumbleUpon Exchange. More details here:

      www.cymru66.com/blogging/build-traffic-with-the-stumbleupon-exchange/

If you're looking for extra traffic, both of the these work!
    4. clioandme
The few experiences I've had with stumbled posts involved readers who stayed around for maybe two seconds.
  2. RobSellen
I do, it gets out there to stumbleupon users. ;o)

After all alot of stumblers may only check youtr profile o it makes sense to at least get it up there. but I am stumbling others too, so all in all I think its better to do it until at least to the tipping point...where you wont need to. ;o)

    I stumbled yours already. ;o)
  3. scorpy01
I stumble my posts that I think would be interesting to others. I'm very selective and probably stumble less than one per week. Sometimes one per month.

As long as you don't abuse it you're okay I think.
  4. Norski
I've stumbled a blog, not a specific post, to get it 'on the radar' for Stumblers. I figure that fellow-Stumblers can sort out and 'stumble' posts that tickle their fancy.
    1. RobSellen
I often do the post because of the catorgory function. ;o)

Just means I can do a post, if others find that post they may choose a different cat. ;o)

Work ok, works both ways I suppose, each to their own...testing. ;o)

I stumble some of my posts that I think are uniquely amusing or informative .. but if some posts are consecutive I mix them up .. e.g. reddit or other sites like that
  6. Kiwipulse
No. I don't have friend on StumbleUpon
Do you want to be my friend?
    1. RobSellen
      Ok, ;o)

      Already am. ;o)
  7. clioandme
I've never stumbled any of my own stuff. Thought it was against the rules.
    1. RobSellen
Is it? I must have missed that one, off to check ;o)
    2. People
I don't think it is, but I do think they have a way of making sure if you Stumble a few times different pages from the same site (for example, your own site), less people will see it. I think you're okay as long as you also Stumble other pages and especially if you discover a page (not necessarily your own) that later gets a lot of thumbs up.
  8. askax
I only stumble 2-3 my best post, other than that not....
  9. bornliar
I only stumble the posts that I think might be useful to people, not the day-to-day stuff and photos.

In my opinion, Stumble traffic is low-quality traffic. When I use the "stumble!" button, I click it repeatedly until I find an eye-catching site. I'm usually not in the mood to read blogs if I'm stumbling. I think the same applies to most stumblers.

But if you want big traffic numbers in your stats, then go for it.
  11. DaneMorgan
Nope. I'm actually about 3 inches away from redirecting Stumble traffic away from my blogs. I don't seem to write things that Stumblers are interested in, which, I suppose begs the question of how I get the stumbles in the first place.

But it is the least productive traffic I have. I can't trace a single MWR action directly to a stumble visitor, they have a bounce rate over 90% and spend less than 50 seconds on average on the blog.
  12. Banjo3
I was going post this same question. I just recently joined stumbleupon and just a day or 2 ago I went ahead and stumbled one of my blogs. I hope it's alright.

I need to spend more time there figuring out how to use it to it's biggest potential for getting traffic. Even if it is untargeted traffic that only stays for a few seconds because it lookd like that is the only traffic I get now with most of the methods that I am using. About the only ultra targeted traffic I get is from articles and ppc. Usually I don't use ppc for blog traffic but I have on a few posts in the past.

I stumbled your blog, Lady Banana...
I should have done it a long time
ago!! I'm a member of the Stumble
Project, but I confess that I often
forget to stumble sites or posts I
like when I'm just out visiting
    blogs.
  14. Crusader
I've stumbled a few of my pages (like 10 or so - am relatively new), but only those I've thought would be of interest to others.

I am now having difficulty as I don't seem to be getting any traffic, or very little, from StumbleUpon. Anyone run into this?
  15. devnulled
I disagree that stumble traffic isn't profitable/useless. Yesterday one of my posts got stumbled and ranked/rated/whatever and suddenly on my brand new blog I got 5790 unique visitors along with 26 adsense clicks

    Image Hosted by <a href=ImageShack.us"/>

    Image Hosted by <a href=ImageShack.us"/>

If your post is worth it, it will be profitable
  16. nplbjirel
I think showing your adsense earning like this is against TOS of Google, devnulled.
    1. devnulled
Where exactly does it say I can't show *my* earnings to anyone else?
    2. BlogBadly
From the terms: You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. "Google Confidential Information" includes without limitation: (a) all Google software, technology, programming, specifications, materials, guidelines and documentation relating to the Program; (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to You by Google; and (c) any other information designated in writing by Google as "Confidential" or an equivalent designation. However, You may accurately disclose the amount of Google’s gross payments to You pursuant to the Program...

So basically you can show what you've earned but not eCPM or CTR.
  17. nplbjirel
I also stumble only selected posts. Stumble upon is good source of trafficfor me as well and Dosh dosh has given in detail about stumble traffic.http://www.doshdosh.com/a-comprehensive-guide-to-stumbleupon-how-to-build-massive-traffic-to-your-website-and-monetize-it/
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Thanks for sharing this article. It was a useful overview of things, and confirmed some info I've been figuring out from using Stumble myself.
  18. MarkDykeman
Erm, yeah, I do stumble some of my own stuff...
  19. voodooKobra
I do, and people who disagree with my opinions often try to use that as cannon fodder. My response? "Thumb it down and go on your way if you don't like it."
  20. Mauro
Yes. But i only stumble the best Love Messages/ Love Letters that i publish in 1 Million Love Messages.
  21. Madlabent
I stumble some of my posts, but not all of them. Sometimes, its better to let people "discover" your blog or posts.
  22. clioandme
Just stumbled one of my own pieces. Blame it on the bad influence of this community.
  23. Netmark
I did stumble a few of my posts, only when I am sure those are really really good posts. Normally if the post was not liked by other stumblers, you will not get much traffic. IF your post was liked and you could get a lot of posts.
I don't think it is a good idea to stumble your own posts. You can recommend some of your posts to me, if I believe it is good, I can stumble it.
  24. bsd13
I do but I'm going to start cutting back. I also use the "send to" feature a lot and I've notice a huge decline in traffic. I can get 10 or 15 stumbles from my SU friends but no one else touches it. I suspect SU penalizes when to many of your friends stumble you.
  25. dudeinwrens
I stumble my own posts, but only when it's already been stumbled by others. I usually try to wait until 10 or more people have stumbled it. But, StumbleUpon is useless traffic, unless you have a great post that is going to make people want to return. Great way to get exposure, but that's about it...
  26. Netmark
The stumblers spent little time on the webpage they read. So the appearance of the webpage, design, photography and video are really important to get liked. Also, most of the traffic is not very important.

The bottom line is, social networks, like, here, stumbleupon, delicious, or digg can give you some traffic and give your new blog some exposure and back links. In long run, focus on content, one or two posts a day, do your home work on SEO are ultimate traffic for you from search engines. And search engine traffic will come in continuously.
  27. crpitt
    Its naughty!
    1. godsofchaos
      sure is!
  28. godsofchaos
Yes it is true, stumbling your own post will, if seen by the proper authority will get you banned from doing it in the future.... even when friends do it, there is a risk... since this seems a nice thread... why dont we stumble each other, (WITHOUT BEING STUMBLE FRIENDS)? It does help! So here is a simple offer, Stumble my last post in my blog and just let me know, I will in return immediately also visit and stumble yours.... fair enough?

    Here is my site... www.nokiasymbianthemes.com

    Just let me know!
  29. Netmark
If you stumble one of my posts you really like. I will do you as well. Please tell me which is your best post. This way, we do stumbe good posts, the good post will get good amounts of traffic. In addition, stumble it around 8-12am, 2-5pm works best. Here is my website web500.us.
The interesting article: Top 10 ways to melt a girl's heart and one way to melt her body:

    web500.us/how-to-melt-a-womans-heart/

Thank you. After you did mine, I will do yours and let me know which is the best of your article.
  30. kinsey88
I stumble and fall out on the trail all the time. I call these incidences "self-administered bone density tests".

Sorry, I don't know what "Stumble" is.
  31. rexted
Sometimes I do it , If I think it is worthy
  32. Netmark
I do stumble a few of my posts which I believe really good. I think the best of stumbling is to give you a star on your webpage. When people google your webpage, you will get some advantage.
  33. n8
I stumble my own posts, but mostly things I find online that I find interesting.

But yes I do stumble my posts. It helps get them viewed by other stumblers.
  34. stephenbaugh
I know this is an old discussion and I do think it is so true about stumbleupon being great for promotion.

I however got into trouble and my account temporarily deactivated by them. Evidently it is against their Terms of Use to self submit. They track the number of times you promote a single site. They did reactivate after a little hand slap :-)

    Just a heads up.

    Cheers
    Stephen

PS I just wrote a post on how to check who reviews you ... you might find this useful.

    www.stephenbaugh.com/blog/2008/09/how-to-see-who-reviewed-you-on-stumbleupo...
  35. blogonsmog
I've actually found a lot of very interesting web-sites I would not have discovered without stumble. So I will continue to use it.
  36. fated82
I do stumbled my own post subtlety.
  37. timethief
As stephenbaugh has said above your activity is being tracked on SU. www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/do-you-stumble-your-own-stuff#comment_571... Self submission is against the SU ToS. If you regularly stumble a wide variety of sites unconnected with your own then stumbling your own accidentally will not be a problem. However, If you start to stumble the same friend's sites over and over and they do the same for you this will not be tolerated by SU. Your account will be deactivated. And, if you always try to stumble your own site frequently this likewise will not be tolerated by SU either. Your account will be deactivated. I'm glad these terms of service exist and the tracking is done because self submission and click clubs defeat the purpose of what SU is all about.
    1. legbamel
That also means that people who all publish through the same site, like Squidoo or Hub Pages, can get slapped for stumbling others' pages on those sites, as well. But as long as you're stumbling plenty of other pages, you should be fine bumping one from a stie of that nature from time to time.
  38. xmarks
I stumbled my home page and one article awhile ago. I haven't stumbled anything of my own since then. I really haven't put any consistent effort into stumble and it shows in my lack of stumble traffic. I don't even have a stumble button on my blog.
