I know that energy drinks (like Red Bull) boost your physical and mental abilities for a short period of time. But they are not at all good.

If taken in large quantities or along with alcohol, they cause adverse health effects.

I don't take them.

Absolutely not. In fact, I have blogged on this topic, specifically on the effects of high energy drinks on kids.

Hey, I couldn't find a way to post a reply on your blog page.
It's a great post but it's important to know that Sports drinks (like Gatorade) and energy drinks are completely different.

Energy drinks are not meant for athletes too! Sports drinks are - which have a lot of sugar so it replenishes their carbohydrate store. It also rehydrates them. (Energy drinks do not rehydrate a person, it just stimulates the person.)

I'm sorry. I turned the comments off on that post because I got so many nasty and spammy comments from sport drink addicted kids. There are many kids who have "sports drinks" blogs. BTW I do understand the sugar aspect better than I did when I wrote that post last year.

      Wow that bad Timethief?

I used to drink energy, sports and carbonated drinks nonetheless I have stopped completely in order to lose weight, stay in shape and be healthy.

I mostly drink water. Soy milk and extracted fruit juice once in a while.

No...they are very bad for you. I really hate it that energy drinks like Red Bull and Full Throttle are marketed to children. I think the FDA should take them off the shelves.

No, we don't do energy drinks. My husband does then he wonders why he feels run down afterward hmmm... liquid crack? Sports drinks once your child is age 2 and so sick that they can't keep fluids down the doctor suggests giving Gatoraide for the sugar and the electrolytes. The sugar helps keep the child from vomitting and the electrlytes keep them hydrated. My kids only get this when they are sick or it's a special occasion. Any other time it's just milk and water.

Personally, I can't stand the taste of most of them. I do drink Java Monster now and again, but usually not more than once every week or two.

closest I get is Carnation Instant breakfast and have been half living on the stuff since my dental surgery, but I don't think it's considered an energy drink
