There is a news report today about a pastor being paid USD 300k in last financial year.

Do you think a pastor should be paid so much? Yes or No?

    If the community gives them enough money for them to afford him such pay, than so be it.

    Some people believe so strongly that they think he'll deserve that much pay. If they ever get upset about it, well - who's giving those donations to the church? (Not me, that's for sure!)

    sure. if they practice what they preach hopefully they would donate much of it to a worthy charity. of course, many of the tv preachers are pretty corrupt, but there is no one to blame for that besides the suckers who fall for their scam.

    Not sure I am overly concerned as to what others get paid, the only time it concerns me is if they are getting a bailout using tax payers money.

    @jafabrit,
    Like when the income tax was voted in in 1913 to guarantee the payment of interest on public debt to the newly created privately held Federal Reserve?

    Only if he does $300k a year worth of good for society, which I don't see how he could. That's easily nine times what my parents made before the recession.

    I don't think anyone should earn $300k a year unless they give almost all of it away.

      Then what's the point of earning it?

    I would hope he/she wouldn't be a hypocrit. Do as I say and not as I do. A lot of pastors preach on how we should serve our community and too often I have seen that go south. Homeless people are turned away from churches in Cleveland and that is sad. They have a responsibility to serve.

    There's a sucker born every minute. If the pastor is getting that money from suckers voluntarily, then the pastor deserves every penny.

    I think it depends on the size of the congregation and whether they provide a home for him/her and family (and, of course, on where the church is based). If living arrangements would eat up much of the salary, if the pastor's time is almost completely consumed with caring for his or her parishioners and giving services, then I don't have a problem with it. Imagine trying to buy a house or pay rent in San Francisco on $300,000 a year, on top of not having any time with your family because literally thousands of other people had claims on your time and energy.
