Do you think Chris Brown's career will survive?

Chris Brown allegedly beat up his girlfriend, pop/R&B singer Rihanna, before the Grammys.
He was a cute, not intimidating black kid with endorsements and more than one hit song.
I mention his race because the media favors accessible and not-highly opinionated blacks like Michael Jordon and Will Smith who dont have criminal records.
Do you think he'll be able to bounce back, and if so how?

Don't know, but his music's already being pulled from the radio according to this article. Check it out.

Sucks for him?!?!?!?! Screw him. If he's going to beat people up, does he deserve sympathy and airplay? No, he deserves counselling and a restraining order.
If he didn't hit her, then this is a genius marketing move. His name is all over the place and everyone is talking about the both of them. Does anyone know where the rumor started (his reps, hers, a police blotter, the National Enquirer)?

Nope, like I said in a blog post title, Chris Brown and Rihanna were a bobby and whitney in the making. Rihanna still has time to get out the relationship, she better not go back to that fool. Still...I like Chris Brown's music though, but seriously Chris Brown wasn't fooling anyone with his cute smile and caramel skin and good dancing skills, we knew he had a dark side :|

No clue. It's really tough because it's not like most celebrities. He didn't get a DUI (while I highly look down on the decision of drinking and driving, sometimes people don't know their limits). He wasn't busted for a drug offense (a typical celebrity problem). He hit and stuck a woman; more specifically, he struck his girlfriend, who ALSO happens to be a well known and very well liked celebrity. I think this poses a really big problem.

I just think it's disgusting how people are pre-judging him on every site from The huffington post to E-online to TMZ to Perez Hilton's site.
People are making some very nasty comments which are not warranted as none of us were there and none of us know exactly what happened.
People forget that celebrities are human and have feelings too.
I am a fan and I think it's funny how people are talking about this young man like the police have confirmed that he did beat up Rhianna.
He has always been a pleasant and respectful young man so why jump to conclusions. These websites that are spreading nasty and false gossip about their sex life and how Rhianna is all bloody and bruised should be shut down. No one has seen any photos.
If he did it I will bin his cd's.
He will not survive this because he had a squeeky clean image, he was the prince of R&B and him and Rhianna were the IT couple of the R&B world.
He might go to jail but then again he might not, he will have to disappear for a while and then figure out what he can do to make a living.
I will wait to hear from the police or Chris or Rhianna's reps before I pass judgement. -

Why do you think his career is over... People are fickle and have the attention span of a 1 year old.
Need evidence... look at Michael Jackson, R. Kelly...Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston... we are talking about pedofiles, drug addicts, and domestic violence.
Give him another 6 months... and let him pick up another movie deal... and he will be right back on top.

Well, they pulled his DoubleMint gum ads, apparently. [rolls eyes] He's a 19-year-old idiot that hit a woman in a rented Lamborghini on a public street after an argument. According to police, there are photos showing visible damage to her face and she is cooperating with law enforcement. There were lots of witnesses. I'm told that his demographic is younger boys, which means that he doesn't deserve to have a career if that's the example he's going to set for them.

@Legbamel, sorry but I have to add that None of us have seen or heard from Chris Brown or Rhianna or their camps, everything in the media is speculation and reports from 'sources' which means they do not know exactly what happened.
Chris Brown's main fan base are girls, he is an R&B singer not a rapper like some articles have published.
I agree that his career should be over if the rumours turn out to be true but at the moment no one knows what happened, there were NO witnesses. A resident called the police and that's all we know.
Chris and Rhianna are human beings with families and I think all this gossip and rumours are nasty, damaging and disturbing. -
@Legbamel, the article in the LA times says the police need to gather more evidence. The only people who know what happened are Rhianna and Chris.
All this gossip is very negative. Why can't people just wait for the 'real' evidence to come out before stringing this young man up? He has always been pleasant and respectful in public and no one had a bad word to say about him.-
Agreed and why is it that these so-called celebrities stories are so prominent? Because their idle and bored and voyeuristic so-called fans love to gossip and buy into the fanatsy that they really know something about the lives of those whom they worship.
Every day women and children all over this world are hurt in situations of domestic violence and we rarely hear about it, unless the injuries are serious or someone is killed. But, in the case of celebrities it's front page news even before the police investigations are complete.
I have no respect for celebrity fan gossips. IMO they should stop the jaw wagging, get the off their backsides and help the victims of violence in their own communities.
So my answer is that I don't give a damn if Chris Brown's career survives or not. I sincerely doubt that anyone with his income level and his huge fan base will be seriously hurt by this at all.

I honestly believe that it will be determined by the way his demeanor is when he decides to speak out. The same with Rihanna. Physically fighting with a woman if you're a man is NEVER okay...but, I feel that if after all this comes to light and if she doesn't crucify him, and he decides to be truly apologetic, I think some people will find it in their hearts to forgive. Honestly, when you're young, in love, full of passion and have a background of abuse, this stuff happens. It's NOT okay, but the fact of the matter is that it happens, and they both need help to learn how to deal with the anger.
