I say the only thing I am more sick of than God Threads....is Entrecard threads.

Why do they announce they are leaving....just beat it.

    Nobody cares.

    Nobody will miss them.

    Scram.

    My 2 cents.

I would say for a blogger yes, the traffic is no good and if you're lucky you will get one reader from every thousand visitors! For me on the other hand it's amazing because I offer a service to bloggers, www.blogengage.com and when they come to drop there card 90% of the time they also sign up and submit blog articles!

Well, Entrecard is not for established bloggers I assume.

But it work wonders on small new blogs like mine. You can't please everyone.. that's how life is anyway...

While in my case, both of the blogs I have in the system are, as bbrian's, targeting bloggers, Alan blogs about books and has picked up several feed subscribers commenters and readers from Entrecard.

Those who are calling this junk traffic are not really looking at the opportunity. Entrecard is a new thing and has to be measured differently.

The ultimate decision is whether what you get out is worth what you put in, and people who work creatively within the system will find that the answer is a resounding yes. Those who try to make it fit their view of PPC, or straight ad buys will probably never see what they might have gained and stand to lose.

Has anyone also noticed specific bloggers teaming up developing entrecard circles? I mean 3 or 4 sites always redirecting then selves to each other?
    1. DaneMorgan
I haven't noticed that, but then my strategies don't involve a lot of dropping.

I just started using it, I am going to wait until I build up a large amount of credits and my blog is valued to advertise on before I make a judgment on it.
    1. DaneMorgan
Which blog did you put it on?

      Pointlessbanter.net... I don't have a hell of a lot of control over buzznetworker.com

Look lets settle this once and for all. All EC traffic is good traffic whether they are aimply dropping a card or not.

In the case of chain droppera they are crediting those that they drop on 1 credit. Also, many of the alleged chain droppers will scan a site for some interesting content. If there isn't any then they will quite rightfully move on. No different to search engine traffic there.

As for EC allegiances it is only natural that will happen, however I have not seen a lot of it as yet. People will work it out and bypass those sites in time.

So in cloaing this "junk traffic" claim ia in the land of make believe!

So far I have had a couple of new readers who left comments that I am pretty sure came from EC. The thing I like most about EC is that I have found several interesting sites to read that I certainly would not have found otherwise.

There in lies the point. Without this social advertising network and people willing to explore the EC community to drop cards, many good sites would remain unnoticed. So going back to my old mantra, if you can convert 2% of the chain droppers with good content then you have won. Quite simpe really.

    on one blog useless

    on one blog rocking

Although Entrecard has quite a following, brought in new traffic to my sites and lead me to new blogs, I quit because of the time factor. Points rise and fall depending upon number of droppers, adverts and how many times you visit and drop your card to other blogs.

Your success will depend upon all the above factors, friends and marketing you do for your blog within Entrecard. I think that it also benefits some users to get involved in the forums there and to join the Entrecard group here so you know the BC users on EC. I think that will help to increase the value of your experience.

Time and interest prohibits me from investing in EC.

Very well said. EC is a community, and to sustain we must contribute. I see my traffic correlates with my involvement in the system (which has been sombre for quite some times)

The fact that this happens proves that EC function as a community is working!

    Well I am keeping it.

I have noticed that my traffic is up but so is the time people spend on my blog per average, so I don't think all are just hit and run.

That may be because I did add a line of text under my entrecard that says "You did read the blog before you dropped your card, right?"

Guilt may work with a few of them ha.

I think you have to remain focused. Pick a couple categories to focus on. I generally focus on four things, people who visit my blog, the writing and literature category, the books category, and the environmental category. It takes a bit too much time though.

Because I am focusing on categories that are part of my blog, I get a lot
more relevant traffic than many. It is very easy to choose things which
are nebulous and have huge amounts of members like personal blogs, money
    blogs, or marketing blogs.

It works somewhat because I have found a few blogs which have similar
interests to my own, libdrone, cromely, bookshop blog, herburban or
    have similar personal tastes.

None of this stuff really works that is why I don't do it. You have to get people on your blog that like your topic and want to visit. Not a forced visit.

Just give it time. If people like your blog they will link to it and tell others about it. That is the real way of growing traffic.

You also have to keep posting and have good stuff on it.

That is why Entrecard is a social advertising network. It is a way to get potential participants in the door, the rest is down to your content. Think of it as a brochure for a furniture company. It gets clients in and looking, if they like they will purchase a chair etc. Entrecard is no different.

If you write crud, regurgitate the daily entertainment drama, or don't write often, then the mythical chain drop problem will from your point of view affect you. If you do write good content, then the Entrecard community will, for the most part, participate in your blog.

Again, you get out what you put in!

I don't think it is entirely junk, however, depending on your content, it may be quite worthless. As someone said, EC community is that of bloggers, so 90%+ of your visitors will be from bloggers that are seeking the EC widget and move on. For my site ridewithg.com, in which I discuss auto leasing, people who drop in from EC stay no more than 3 seconds and bounce 95% of the time. On my whitecarrot.com food blog, the same thing is happening. The good news is this, for every 1000 visitors, you will get one or two that will come back because they like your site. So bottomline is this, any traffic is decent traffic. Its one more person that knows your site, which can't be that bad. However, if the real estate on your website is precious, I would definitely consider dumping EC for a revenue generating ad. My 2 cents...

Sure, you get some "junk" traffic, but I've also gotten some regular readers. It doesn't hurt.
  16. libdrone
lol. how ironic this old thread got shot back up top the day I posted that I have come around to finding that the traffic is junk and not worth my time to pursue. bit.ly/3ZKag7 too funny.
