I just finished reading an article on Google's, The Knol, which I posted on my blog, titled "The Characteristics of an Entrepreneur". Check out the article, Copy and paste it into your URL and tell me what you think? Are entrepreneurs born with these characteristics or are they taught them? DO they pop out of the womb with visions of greatness or do they just decide one day that they will create a product to change the world?

I think entrepreneurs are born that way. I don't think someone can be taught how to be an entrepreneur. They can be taught basic principles but it is up to them how they utilize these principles and create success.

    Neither--they're created by mitosis.

Without a doubt you need those 3, but I strongly believe you are born with it.

Its more of the "I beat to my own drum people" mentality.

I agree that hard work is needed. Intelligence is the ability to recall information. Wisdom is acquired through experience. I think wisdom coupled with intelligence are both required. When time meets opportunity, I believe destiny begins so if you have the right product at the right time, success is bound to occur. I think your whole life is a preparation for your destiny. That's why I think entrepreneurs are born that way.

I don't agree it's about been born, at least no more or no less than for other jobs. I rather think that it's a question of education. If you are born in an entrepreneur family there is a huge chance that you will have business skill than if you were not.

Can't find your article can you post the exact link ?

I have myself written my personal experience as I had been already an small entrepreneur in the past but now back to be an employee
    www.entrepreneurnovice.com/2009/04/what-it-takes-to-become-entrepreneur.htm...

Being a well-paid employee seems very secure but you don't realize when young that as you become a senior you cost more and more (especially in "social" countries where social taxes double the cost of an employee for the employer), managers can't do what they want with you, or you may become outdated, etc. so ...

They must first be born and then they grow into entrepreneurs. Some people have stronger talents and the right personality to be great entrepreneurs but we all have the ability to grow into being entrepreneurs. But all of us first are born and then we choose to either use our talents or to waste them.

I feel that it is a little bit of it both. I think it takes the combination to succeed. Some seem to have the desire and learn all the ropes, but when people meet them and see their personality, they back off from them.
