Do you think FDA should get tougher on drug companies?

It seems like not a day goes past and you either hear or see a commercial about if you took this drug and have suffered or a death from a loved one, contact this number...

The drug companies need to be constrained all 'round - the advertisements they unleash in the States are absolutely ridiculous. I agree with Chris Rock, it's getting to the point that they're trying to advertise pills by saying, "Do you go to bed at night, and get up in the morning?" - in the hopes that you'll reply, "Hey, that's me!"

  Allowing drug companies to advertise is one of the chief reasons the cost of prescription medication in the US is skyrocketing. That's another one we can blame on the Republicans as they were the ones who pushed (with plenty of Big Pharma pac money) to deregulate pharmaceutical adverts.

  I enjoy the caveats on the ads - "may cause blindness, deafness, fever, chest pains, and sudden death...if any of these symptoms occur, see your doctor"

  I must agree. And also doctors get kick backs for promoting the drug. And also that leads to drugs being despenced needlessly like candy.

  pick whichever drug you feel like taking, despite the fact that you don't have any medical expertise...and make them all free so that there is no money for developing new drugs?

  Don't pay any attention to the fact that they may interact with each other in such a way that you die, and forget that the scientists who develop the drugs have to eat and pay the mortgage, regardless of marketing and CEO pay. Screw them, gimme the drugs!

The FDA is unfortunately a political organization. People leave there and go to work for drug companies, helping them skirt regulation.
