I just wrote a post about married people are richer. But the question is how true is this statement? Are married people really richer?

IMO, I think married people are richer and have better control over their personal finance than single. No offense to those are in single. This is just for a discussion. What is your comment?

I was definitely richer when i was single, I definitely don't regret getting married but it does increase the day to day living expenses, Then of course kids come along and goodbye to any savings.

What if you continue to be single, would it become richer? Yes, I do agree when kids come along the spending must be probably planned.

I honestly don't know. Ive been told that the richest people in the world are the people who are happily married with children, And enough money to live a life. Not all financially rich people are happy, Therefore are poor emotionally.

      Ya, got your point.

People who know how to manage their money wisely are better off financially (whether they be single or married).

Yupe, assuming both equally know how to manage their money wisely. I think theoretically married people without kids is the richest follow by single, then married people with kids. Don't you think so? But in reality we usually see those married people with kids are the richest one. Is this really so?

That would be my answer too but I'll add that if you take two financially responsible people and they get married, then I'm sure they would be fiancially richer than they were when single. But one financially responsible person married to someone who is not could soon lose everything he/she had because of the irresponsible one.

I am definitely far better off financially as a single parent than I ever was married.

Logically, what you say seems to make sense--it doesn't cost twice as much for two people to live, and yet theoretically a married couple has double the income, and median income figures seem to bear it out: www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/22600.html

Nope - financial wealth is very much determined on the person, or people involved with the handling of the money. Be they single, dating, cohabitating, or married.

Financially, depends. Are both working? Does one spend like there's no tomorrow? Any kids?

I'd love to see some actual research on this. Maybe a survey.

Have you had a look at the tax codes in the U.S.? Or the costs of raising children?
