Do you think that violent computer games create violent people?
"I did it because the game told me too!"

Absolutely. I blame the Mario games for making us kill turtles to the point where most species we've encountered are now endangered or have become extinct.
DAMMIT, MARIO! YOU AND YOUR SHROOMS!-
I love the turtles. Never say you hurt any of my shy friends. About two months ago I saw a little turtle crossing the road. I got Joe to stop the car. I jumped out and ran over to the little turtle, who immediately looked determined to get as far away from me (the mean old giant) as fast as possible. I scooped up the exotic creature, its small feet flailing in the air and little claws or nails barely scratching my hands and I rushed across the street. Reaching the other side I advised my new friend to run down the tall grass to the water and not to attempt that again. One of the best parts is when crossing the street, a car drove by and the female passenger waved her arm out the window and enthusiastically shouted, "Woo-Hoo, Good Job!" I remembered the satisfied feeling I got from helping the turtle. Joe and I smiled a lot that afternoon.
The motto: Even if you play the mario game, please leave my friends alone.

To answer your question I would have to agree that these violent games introduce kids to violence and teaches them to become desensitized to the hurt inflicted on the imaginary opponents. After a few hours of this combat it isn't so offensive to their sensibilities and is now an accepted or kind of normal behavior. These games do create repercussions.
Wouldn't it be better for everyone if they created fabulous, exciting, non-violent games? -
I ddon't that it is healthy for younger children... or for older children with emotional issues. Parents should be smart enough to use sound descretion, but of course a lot do not
I should note that before there were first-person-shooter video games there were BB Guns and squirrels. Testosterone uninhibited by reason and respect for life is prone to destroy as a matter of course-
Nah. The problem isn't that boys are being boys, the problem is that boys don't have honor. We don't bring up our children any more to really believe in anything, or to really have a root in themselves, and so, obviously, they make hedonistic decisions. We're so anti-controversy and nicey-nicey that no one learns any morals. There is nothing wrong with appreciating a little mayhem. There is everything wrong with having no principles about inflicting mayhem.

Some people are very easy influensed, so in some cases a movie or game about killing someone might put the idea in someones head.
Most people who play violent games might get the idea, but common sense says not to do it.
I watch violent movies a lot (Saw, Sweeney Todd, The Crow etc) but I am completly against violence. But I remember as a kid I knew a few people who watched violent movies and starting picking fights afterwards. -
But of course a child who never sees violence at all will be terrified when they are adults if anything ever happens, so maybe a violent video game is good for preparing their minds for the real world, as long as they realize the game is only a game and as long as it is not too violent like Manhunt.

this is like the gun thing
"Guns don't kill people, people kill people."
"Video games don't kill people, people kill people."
There are some individuals out there who are nuttier than fruitcakes and enjoy violence, and while violent video games don't help them, the actions they choose have little to do with the games.
For years people have wanted to blame other things for their own stupidity (satan/the devil, guns, god/s, other people, yada yada) but in the end, it's their own fault and they shouldn't be allowed to point the finger.-
AD, I would also like to remind you that many people who like (though note I did not say "love") violence turn out to be perfectly acceptable, responsible, capable police officers, Marines, body gaurds, and business people. The difference, of course, is honor and having something inside of you that pulls you towards a purposeful life.

true, but i was talking about the nutty ones who grow up to be your serial killer types. that's why i said "individuals that are nuttier than fruitcakes". there are "normal" people who enjoy violent video games and such, and yeah they do grow up to be respectable. i agree with you on the honor thing. there is very little honor today, and that goes for both the men and women.

It depends if they're playing heavy metal music at the time .. backwards .. and have red painted symbols on their walls.

No, I play the most violent of all, and still I'm very friendly, only creates if the player is an ass, and can't distiguish real from virtual!
I'm not influenced by what I play, with 12 years I played Resident Evil and GTA!
And normaly violent people is genetics, it has more probably a young teen to be more violent if his parents are violent, the enviroment, the school, friends, social condition(i mean this because more poor people grown up in a bad neiborhood where the violence is more higher), can also affect him is behave towars sociaty.
