Do you think the Thai language is easy or difficult to learn?

I was wondering what the general feeling was on the blogosphere. Those of you who have already started to Learn Thai - did you find it difficult? What were your experiences? Those of you who are considering learning Thai - what is your perception? Difficult language or easy?

I started learning Thai in 2006. I picked up the basics fairly quickly, but Thai is a tonal language. It wasn't until I moved there and was immersed in the culture that things started falling into place. I'd say Thai is a difficult language to learn.
