Do you update your blog everyday? I use to but lately I skip a day or two, because if you have a lot of email subscribers that might be an overload for them daily.

what do you do?

I tend to post every other day or so. I don't feel as rushed to write something and don't feel as overwhelmed myself.
    1. iriegal
Suburqueen, I guess I am like you. I kinda chill out. This is a hobby for me, not a job. I know some folks this is their living but this is just something I enjoy doing.

I've been messing about with different blogs recently so I haven't posted regularly. Technorati say this about post frequency though, if you're interested:

The Low Authority Group [D-List Bloggers]
(3-9 blogs linking in the last 6 months)
The average blog age (the number of days that the blog has been in existence) is about 228 days, which shows a real commitment to blogging. However, bloggers of this type average only 12 posts per month, meaning that their posting habits are generally dedicated but infrequent.

The Middle Authority Group [C-List Bloggers]
(10-99 blogs linking in the last 6 months)
This contrasts somewhat with the second group, which enjoys an average age not much older than the first at 260 days and which posts 50% more frequently than the first. There is a clear correlation between posting volume and Technorati authority ranking.

The High Authority Group [B-List Bloggers]
(100-499 blogs linking in the last 6 months)
The third group represents a decided shift in blog age while not blogging much more frequently than the last. In keeping with the theme of the maturation of the blogosphere, it seems evident that many of these bloggers were previously in category two and have grown in authority organically over time. In other words, sheer dedication pays off over time.

The Very High Authority Group [A-List Bloggers]
(500 or more blogs linking in the last 6 months)
In the final group we see what might be considered the blogging elite. This group, which represents more than 4,000 blogs, exhibits a radical shift in post frequency as well as blog age. Bloggers of this type have been at it longer – a year and a half on average – and post nearly twice a day, an increase in posting volume of over 100% from the previous group. Many of the blogs in this category, in fact, are about as old as Technorati and we’ve grown up together. Some of these are full-fledge professional enterprises that post many, many times per day and behave increasingly like our friends in the mainstream media. As has been widely reported, the impact of these bloggers on our cultures and democracies is increasingly dramatic.

It's hard to know what that really means. Sure, there's a correlation, but that doesn't mean there's any causal link. It's not much of a stretch to imagine that people who are posting to their blogs every day are also, on average, making more efforts to promote their blogs. They're also likely more active online in general, which may mean they're leaving more comments on other blogs, which lead directly or indirectly to links counted by Technorati.

There are a lot of other possible factors in play, and many of them have a logical correlation with more frequent posting.
    2. iriegal
The lookout, wow..I tell you the truth I read what Technorati is saying. Of course I don't quite understand what they are saying..but I guess if I was a corporation I would post as often as the "high authority" suggested
    1. iriegal
Appleman, does it affect your readership posting everyday? I mean do you have a lot of subscribers?

  7. libdrone
I try for 5 posts/week, Mon--Fri and try to get the post up the evening before. (ie the post that is dated Monday on my blog actually goes up on Sunday night).
    1. iriegal

  8. izzy69rocks
Trying my best to do it ... At the moment 3 times per week
    1. iriegal
thanks so much Izzy for your comments.
  9. DrowseyMonkey
Anywhere from once a day (never more than once a day) to 4 times a week. Depends on my schedule and if I see or do something worth blogging about.
  10. therealshari
I post to my blogs as I get things written. If it's daily, then so be it. If it's a few times a week, then that's what it is.

While I'd love to "up" my ratings, what I write is more important than simply posting for the sake of posting.
    1. iriegal
      TheRealShari....I really love your comment
  11. dotartdude
I post more when I have material to post. Sometimes I have to worry about site maintenance issues.
    1. iriegal
I have to worry about my browser crashing..and firefox has been doing that a lot lately
  12. zawadi
I have 6 Blogs now. I will start posting everyday. The posts will no be a novel, because Bloggers don't like this anyway.
    1. iriegal
6 blogs, much respect. do your thing sis
  13. frenchkys
Yup, everyday. It doesn't matter what time I post them; as long as I stick to at least 1 post a day then I'm quite content. =)
    1. iriegal
french I hear that. Thanks for your comment
    1. iriegal
Individual Sole, I hear what you saying.
  14. tenforty

    1. iriegal
      Tenforty, interesting concept
  15. DaneMorgan
I spend too much time posting here. Maybe I should make myself post to the blogs before I visit Social Sites like this one...
    1. iriegal
Dane, I love this site. I work at home so it is relaxing for me. I think I am going to step up my posting, but I guess I am going for quality as opposed to quantity.
  16. monkeytale
No... I don't have enough neurons firing consistently to post something every day.
    1. iriegal
Milkster, I hear ya dude. I am trying to put some quality posts up and I guess if I have to sit and think about what to write about each day it can become a job...and right now this is just fun stuff for me.
  17. beisnj
I post everyday, but I don't have a lot of traffic so the people that visit my site already have an idea of what to expect.
    1. iriegal
beisnj, maybe you can change up your posts and give your readers a surprise.
  18. bsd13
I update one to three times a day depending on my mood and what I feel like writing about.
    1. iriegal
      Bsd..I really appreciate the feedback
  19. shiidenu
Depends on mood and issue. I don't like to post just for sake of posting.
    1. iriegal
Shidenu..I understand, I skip days and some days I can't stop writing.
    1. iriegal
      firerobin, nice blog

I've always been ahead of my time, iriegal
  26. cardiogirl
    Doesn't everyone?

Yes, I post daily and at times I hold myself back from posting multiple times per day. Those are the times I write my post and hold it for later. My husband says this is obsessive, I say put-ay-to puh-tah-to. One man's obsession is another man's hobby.

    cardiogirl, low tops optional
  27. crkian
Im going for 30 posts tomorrow so keep a look out for it
    1. iriegal

  29. Profitline
A post a day keep your visitors coming...why not..
  30. stocktube
i post on daily basis ... else you'll lose the readers ...
  31. tikirob
Everyday at least one post, but on Cult Movie Tuesday and New films Friday I have a tendency to post 2 times or more. I do not post on Sunday...that is when I create the posts for the week.
  32. kocher
I try to! Actually I try to post 2 or 3 throughout each day.
  33. mtchick
Every 2-3 days, and that's hard for me to do. I can't imagine having something interesting to say a couple of times per day. Maybe I should try harder.
  34. nusuni
    I post every day usually.
  35. CandyApple
I try to post ed everyday but sometimes my life gets in the way of things, but when I do post to my blog I try to post at least a two or three posted a days on my bloggs
  36. lugus1
I'm addicted, I update many times each day.
  37. lissame73
I try to update daily but not flood my readers. I do skip a day here or there. I read somewhere that you should make sure every blog count so I try to make sure every blog is something interesting and sint something posted everywhere. If Im able to do that daily I do if not I dont
  38. sisterofmercy
I blog whenever I get the chance too and if I can think of something inventive enough to write about.

I've been blogging a lot more recently due to unforeseen circumstances, it helps keep my mind off of things.
  39. selfstudy
    3 times a week...:)
  40. celticmusicfan
i update it every few hours.i have fast hands ;0 LOL
  41. MormonGuru
    Yup, every day.
  42. memoriesinmosaics
No, because I like to give my followers time to read a post before I go on to the next one. Not sure if it matters, but that is how I do it. So i would say 3x a week.
  43. jafabrit
I used to but I found it didn't make much difference if it was every day or twice a week.
    1. agnespages
      Very nice blog :-)
  44. 79sparrows
    Gee whiz.
    the past week or so,
I have tried to update my blog more often--definitly increased my posts. :-)
Writer's block lasts as long as you let it.
  45. lisleman
first off I have three blogs that are active. On two of them I don't write much so post is typically a picture or embedded video clip and a few words.
The main blog that typically has some writing takes more thought. I post two or three a week.

Bottom line - blogging should be fun.
    1. timethief
Bottom line - blogging should be fun.

      I agree!
  46. lovelila
I usually update five days a week, no updates on the weekends. It's not set in stone or anything, though, so I won't feel bad if I only update three or four times.
  47. shankha72113
I update my blog with a new story post every 10 days. Cannot make it more frequent. :-(

Though it is sure that, the number of visitors you get is proportional to the frequency of posts.
  48. biggsuccess
We do double duty and post a daily blog and a daily podcast. They go hand-n-hand. We say on our show (podcast), you get a daily lesson & a laugh in five minutes or so on personal & professional development. It can be very tough sometimes to keep up this schedule, as you mentioned, iriegal, but it also forces us to work ahead! - Mary-Lynn, BIGGSuccess.com
  49. survivor
I update my blog once in a while, I know I should every day but it is difficult
  50. Bonnielona
I have to blog everyday to keep up with other sites like mine. If I didn't I would fall behind and lose a lot of my visitors. Fresh blogging keeps your visitors coming back for more....good for the Google rands too!
