I know we have a lot of awesome cooks in BC and then we have us, the normal people, that from time to time can pull-off a fantastic meal.

I made Beef Bourguignon yesterday and you can see the whole process and why it takes so damn long, here:

When we decided to make this recipe I thought: I'm going to need an apron.

My mom has criticized me because she found out I didn't have one when she visited me over the summer. At home I usually wear one when I cook, yet, in the 5 years I have been in the US I had never used one. So, I went and bought one, you can also see me wearing it on my blog

Do you use an apron when cooking?

      Deray! Love the apron

Well it really looks good! So in the end, the chopping, simmering & waiting really paid off. I'm hungry now haha.

I'm hungry too. I have a small yogurt for breakfast and posting all the pictures made me want some beef bourguignon, too bad I didn't take any left-overs with me

      Oh too bad

I forgot to answer your question. I don't wear an apron when I cook. I do have one though, but I'm too lazy to grab it out of the closet.

I would love it if the lady wears an apron, and nothing else!

      @Deray

the thought of flying sizzling bacon grease sounds quite painful in such a state...
    4. Deray28
Indeed gnome, I can think of a few places were a normal grease burn would hurt a lot more than usual

      Nevermind....uggghhh
  3. Alcomum
i don't think i even own an apron...

Nope. I don't have an apron, either. I'm pretty tough on my kitchen towels, as a result, but I'd feel like an idiot wearing an apron.

I do look a little dorky but, that I actually like it, I have way too many shirts with grease stains on them. No more!

I read your article on beef bourguignon and found it excellent. I could just imagine savoring its good taste. No apron for me.

No apron for me .. as it turns out, everytime I eat a meal I end up with something on my shirt so I figure .. since it's going to happen anyway there's no need to bother with an apron when preparing my meals lol ..

That recipe is awesome. It's interesting; that recipe and other French ones (Coq au vin) were really popular in the seventies, then kind of went out of style. Nice to see them coming back.

Sometimes I wear an apron, especially if company's coming, and I want to keep spot free to greet them. Once we sit down, I'm pretty much like bb; I always wear some food.

Aprons are necessary in the professional kitchen and in the privacy of my own kitchen, I find I still enjoy wearing one.

No I have a hand towel that I use. I have never owned an apron. I am always afraid I would catch it on fire.
    1. Deray28
I never thought of that. My new one is kind of long so I don't think I can get the edge over the stove
  12. cityrambler
Good looking recipe. Six hours is a long time to prepare a meal, but it was obviously worth it. If I'm going to cook something elaborate and messy I'll wear an apron.
  13. crpitt
Even wearing an apron I make a mess, so I gave up wearing one.
    1. Deray28
jajajaja with all that cooking I managed to stay spot-free, so I guess the apron is a keeper
    2. crpitt
I may give it another whirl, I will have to get one of those naked men ones
    3. Deray28
Uhhh I would like one of those! jajajajaja
  14. owlbarn
Nope, I don't even own an apron. Ok, I have one which I have never worn.
Those pictures on your blogs made me hungry. I am gonna try the vegetarian version of it.
    1. Deray28
You can totally use eggplant instead of meat does your apron has owls?
  15. angelshair
No I don't use one, I would be too afraid to dirty it :D)!
  16. lifeshighway
I don't use an apron, I also use a hand towel. One in my waist band and a couple on the counter.
  17. HollytheHousewife
I use a hand towel on the side of my apron...I'm a messy cook, but I always clean as I go...
  18. calais50
Nice blog! No, I don't even own an apron.
  19. Deray28
Wow, I really thought that more people would answer yes to this question, curious, very curious. I wonder if hippie CA uses one, jajajaja.
    1. HollytheHousewife
I forgot, what was the differences between ur laughs....jajaja.jejeje,and I know there was another
  20. dbowles1017
I hope my future kitchen wife, will wear one... and nothing else.
    1. Deray28
I hope she only makes cold dishes dressed like that, otherwise there's a risk of her getting burned on something that you really really like with the consequence that she won't let you touch them for a while
    2. dbowles1017
It's ok. Ill still have my upstairs wife, downstairs wife, basement wife, and sports wife.
    3. Deray28
I hope they never get to know about the "other one" jajajaja
    4. dbowles1017
They will all be living in the same house. And they will 'know' each other quite well
  21. cathy13
I have tried aprons but never really liked them. I like the method of wiping on my jeans!
    1. Deray28
Just don't put them in the dryer later! jajajaja

It's very nice to see you here Cathy!!!
  22. MidwestMom
I wear an apron, and when I teach my kids I have them wear aprons, too.
    1. Deray28
Excellent! It is enough that they wear their food at the table
    2. MidwestMom
I'm just happy to have help in the kitchen! They're 8, 6, and 4, so... there's already a bit of mess involved regardless.

The apron just saves me from doing more laundry.
