Do you use Twitter? If you do, what do you use it for?
I use it to keep in contact with my blog readers, and see what's up in the world. I've recently started using Twinkle on my iPhone and posting about my blog posts.

I do.
It's a pretty bad promotion tool. You only get followers from either a) people looking for followers or b) people who know who you are/what you do; the former don't look at your blog and the latter already read it.
My Twitter is www.twitter.com/linkmandx -
Facebook is for friends and Twitter is for business and networking.
You can follow me if you like, I love getting new friends to talk to:

Thanks Cathryn for an interesting discussion group, lets see who else joins in

Qwitter e-mails you when someone stops following you on Twitter: useqwitter.com/
Very useful as it even tells you what twit you posted when they stopped following you. -
I use twitter to keep people up-to-date with what I'm doing with social media at the Port of Long Beach.
Oh and to expose the world to some of my rants.

@geekfabrique
You'll find that the people following a large amount of people aren't the ones that use twitter as intended. It's not a shameless blog marketing tool but a way of keeping in touch with the sources that actually appeal to you.
My advice is to use it to stay up-to-date with your contacts as it's not really a marketing tool .... yet!
I like your blog BTW, the image on the top of www.geekfabrique.com/ is fantastic. -

Hello and welcome to BC. I used the "Groups" link found at the top of every BC page and found this link for you. www.blogcatalog.com/groups
BC has a twitter group with over 500 members. Here's the link www.blogcatalog.com/group/twitter
Also those who posted here might like to take a moment out to read the guidelines in the sticky post titled Read Before Posting -

@thefloatingfrog
True but over BC 500 members talking about the weather & what they are having for lunch is IMO a waste of valuable time. My tweets are protected so I don't have that kind burden on my time.
I'm recovering from a head injury and experiencing some nasty symptoms that interfere with my ability to blog. In time they will heal but in between I have had to reduce my functioning to the bare minimum.

@timethief Me too, though when you commented on the links issue I didn't know this (being new here) so just asked as it would be good for me to know for future reference.

@thefloatingfrog
DUH ... When you said: Where can I find this? did you mean the link to the Read Before Posting thread link? If so then here it is www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/read-before-posting-1
If not then forgive me for not understanding what you meant on the first go around.
BTW I really think your CSS video for beginners is great. I'm going to link back to it from a post if I ever get a chance to finish writing it. I multitask from work & am subject to interruptions.

I do. I really like it. I use it almost as an instant messaging for blogging friends... I link to new posts... I read others' posts... It's a pretty active group we have, and there's always something of interest on it.

What ever she ↑ said ! I ♥ Twitter because I've got so many interesting people in my follow list

@timethief
I'm glad you liked that, and if you're a bit more advanced then I posted an advanced one for pro's
I read the link you posted and I'm much clearer. It basically means if your link is a conversation ender then it's banned, but if is used to encourage further conversation then that's allowed. Is that correct?
To quote:
"You can link to your blog or another website, however it needs to be as a reference, not as the primary purpose of the post."-

Twitter is a short update of what you are doing for friends and contacts. It's not a forum like BC. If you Twitter, check out my statuses and follow if you want. I recommend trying people out for a while before you get too invested. We think we know people.

Report voting conditions and problems using Twitter
When millions of Americans go to the polls on Tuesday, there are bound to be problems. A grass-roots, non-partisan initiative to call them out via the Internet has been launched; it utilizes Twitter, the popular microblogging service.
The Twitter Vote Report twittervotereport.com/ is urging those with Twitter accounts to report voting issues by adding #votereport to a Twitter update. The resulting tweets flow to the site's home page, and will also be plotted on a Google map. votereport.us/reports/map -

It's interesting to see the different ways twitter can be used. I like how ThriftShopRomantic put it as "instant messaging for blogging friends". I just read through everyone's posts here and plan on taking a look at the twitter sites.
I'm hoping to find something interesting, and I'm sure I will
timethief, I'm actually apart of the twitter group here on BC and plan on looking at the links you posted. Thanks. -

I see twitter as a support tool linking the different places that people are connected to me. my twitter status is posted on facebook, my blog, myspace, blogcatalog, and reverbnation so if I want everyone to see something I post it on twitter effectively hitting everyone I know with the information that I want them to see.

I use twitter to announce blog updates, update business and writing contacts, etc.
