In America there is not much of a worry about it. I I have to live my life in fear it would not be worth living.
  2. alvintlh
you mean not many people in America really care about the virus?
    1. thebestblogever
no, it's nothing like that, condoms make people resistant to the virus here in America you see.

Three people in my county have died from it. With that said, I'm not worried because I'm a shut-in.
    1. alvintlh
      Which country are you from?
    2. voodooKobra
USA. I said "county" and that was not a typo.

I was scared at first because I am going to hike through the heart-land of America staying in hotels, campgrounds, hostels, and under bridges, I should be concerned but I am not anymore. More people die every year form the regular influenza virus. living in fear is not living at all.

So no, I do not care about it.

Shuttercraft, that's an easy thing to say from the perspective of a healthy young man. Taking reasonable precautions is not the same as "living in fear"--would you say that looking both ways before you cross the street inhibits your life too much, so it's better just to walk blindly into traffic and see what happens?

I agree that there was a lot of hype and unnecessary fear over H1N1, but the risk to different people is different. When H1N1 first started making the rounds, two different medical professionals took the initiative to call me and tell me that I was exactly the kind of person who would very likely not survive this flu, and that I should avoid going out unnecessarily and take other precautions until it was contained.

Was I afraid? Nope. Did I think it was a good idea to listen to the professionals and avoid unnecessarily risking something that would probably kill me? You bet.

No. I put on a mask daily to be nice.
    1. alvintlh

  6. HollytheHousewife

    1. alvintlh
      not at all?
  8. harveyavatar
I used to wear a sleep mask and earplugs to not see or hear the fearmongering on mainstream channels of "information". Before I discovered it's just easier to turn the channel off.
  9. idealpinkrose
no, I can't see people wearing mask so it's funny if i'm only the one who's wearing it. But I always keep my hands clean.
  10. HollytheHousewife
I think only the very young and old should worry. It's just the flu
  11. kdawg68
    Only an Anok mask.

I wear a condom, way better than a mask, you can have sex just any time you want not in just bed..
  13. HollytheHousewife
    that made alot of sense

my mom was really worried about swine flu (since i have a compromised immune system), but when i asked my doctors about it, they said that masks were unnecessary unless you're in an enclosed space with someone who has a confirmed case. otherwise, just take the same precautions as regular flu season - hand washing, etc. ...i'm just going to carry a little bottle of hand sanitizer around with me. :-)
    1. crpitt
Yep that is what I do because of the mumborg, I am addicted to the drywash stuff
    2. LaurenM622
haha i have little colorful bottles of sanitizer on plastic keychains that i can attach to things. absolutely the height of fashion.

although, when i was still with my internship, the costume dept. made me a really fancy mask with rhinestones & feathers just in case anyone came to work sick (it was mostly a joke - but a pretty awesome one!)
    3. crpitt
Oh like the nurses have? I must get one.

The doctors and nurses haven't said to do anything extra when visiting the mum, well apart from don't come in if you are flu like.

      Love the mask thing!
    4. LaurenM622
yep - they took one from the first aid kit & covered it in velour and spangles. ...it kind of looks like a mask a drag-queen would wear haha
  15. aningeniousname
I don't wear a mask just a leopard skin thong and nipple tassels because if I go I want to go sexy.

      oh baby.....
    2. aningeniousname
I am selling photos of me going about my daily business in my swine flu protection if you are interested.
  16. greencurmudgeon
This would likely be about as effective as using a layer of gauze to stop an Exocet missile. No.

See that's where the Royal navy went wrong in the Falklands conflict.
    2. kdawg68
I thought they just wanted to relive the fun of the HMS Hood?
  17. gosmelltheflowers
A mask for H1n1 when most struggle to wear a condom?

As Aningenious name says - it's all about protection....

Nope - no mask for me - only at the weekends with that apple.
  18. ChrisMM
A mask?? In portugal people aren't very concerned with that. It is said that in october 1 at 4 people will have h1n1. But we are in Summer, not fall.
    1. alvintlh
