Well BC is a good way to get traffic agreed but it depends on the niche you have as well. You shouldn't rely on it for traffic though and I wouldn't really visit someones blog unless I had a reason to.
    1. nateliao
Yeah, you probably right..but most of time if you don't visit the blog, how do you know it is bad or not?
  2. weblogian
Blogcatalog is not a great resource.
    1. nateliao
      How is that?
  3. noetic
Does my blog have 'enough' traffic? How much is 'enough?'
    1. nateliao
Enough to make you have passion to continue to write your blog~~
  4. neobluepanther
No blog has "enough" traffic ever. There is always room for more. In my case, much more. :-)
    1. nateliao
yeah, you are right..but you also should know that that's what taffice mean to us: to motivate us to continue writing blog!

I dont get a lot of traffic on my blog. Although its pretty new, I think its just that I have to wait a while for people who like reggae music to find it and start following. Having repeat readers who leave comments are more important to me than lots of traffic.
    1. nateliao
when there are sincere readers come to you, your traffic will go up naturally, because your blog have something people like and are willing to follow!~
  6. TJlubrano
I think it's more important to have people who really read your blog then people who are just passing by and have a quick look...getting comments and interaction with your readers is much more fun than a number!
    1. nateliao
Yeah..you're absolutely right..but you got to know that, once more people passing by you blog, the more chance people realize your blog is their taste!
    2. TJlubrano
      True indeed! Nicely said ^_^!
    3. nateliao
      Thanks..I just said what I think~

I write blog to polish my lousy English grammar And to cultivate a writing habit. Although sometime I will be tempted to create content that 'attract more reader'.

I kinda think that as long as I stick to the first and second objectives, I will not get disappointed.
    1. nateliao
as long as you keep write in you style! one day you will be found!

We visit each others blog to get ideas. The more you see, listen and read the more you can produce. It will reflect on your blog. some times i come across good blogs which are a rarity in India by the way. I pick things that I like. Eg News, Language, Creativity, Western Slangs to keep up with weirdos in BC.

They once said "there is no book in this world that cant teach you something new". It pretty much applies to blogs as well. Even if you dont learn some thing good at least you will know "how not to do some thing shitty". Keep visiting blogs. You can start with mine.
    1. nateliao
I cant agree with you more! Especially the quote! I think blog is a great way to learn something! In other words, more you read the blog, the more you know and learn.

If the topic is interesting yes you will get more traffic on that one. And blogcatalog is a great help for that.
    1. nateliao
Yes..you have to visit more, so you get more possiblities to find interesting blogs!
    1. nateliao
I have been to you blog! it's cool. but you have to remember: whether you blog deserves more traffics or not, it's not up to you! It depends on your readers. So keep improving you blog! One day people will naturally think your blog is worth more traffic.

i got less traffic when i bought my own domain why is that?
    1. nateliao
there are a lot of reasons out there. Maybe because the content of you website is not attractive enough!
  12. husdal
I get enough traffic. Not from BC, actually zero, but it's niche blog for academia and research, and my audience is not very likely to be on BC anyway, so I have found other places where I can plug my blog. I use BC more as a general blogging resource and place to socialize with other bloggers (not that I'm overly active in the discussions, though).
    1. nateliao
yeah..you have pretty sharp point. I like it. thanks!
  13. deviki

Can you ever have "enough" traffic?
    1. nateliao

    @nateliao
If you want to increase organic (unpaid) traffic to your blog and who doesn't, then there are steps you can take to accomplish that.
      (1) You need to have expertise in a niche.
      (2) You need to know how to write very well.
      (3) You need to structure a reader friendly and search engine friendly blog by learning how to apply basic SEO techniques.
      (4) You need to build an archive of high quality original content.
      (5) You need to update your content frequently with new posts in order to hold reader interest.
      (6) You need to know how to promote your content effectively through social networks thereby encouraging other bloggers to backlink to your posts.
      (7) You need to form relationships with other bloggers and create a blog centered community.
      (8) You need to encourage your readers to comment on your posts.
This post contains all the steps required and you will find that they are internally linked to "how-to" instructional posts as well.

The Melindaville Blog chronicles my journey of writing and publishing my memoir, “Lost and Found: A Journey of Addiction, Recovery, and Redemption,” which details my experiences as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, as a sex industry worker, as an actor and musician in San Francisco’s punk rock scene of the 1980’s and my fifteen year journey through recovery. I hope to inspire others who suffer from painful early childhood experiences, addiction or other self-destructive tendencies, as well as raise awareness about the need for free and available treatment in our society. My ultimate goal is to launch The Melindaville Foundation, which will fund treatment for addicts (particularly those working in the sex industry) so they can receive the second chance at life I was given.

You can visit my blog (and I hope you do!) at blog.melindaville.com

I think the content of the blog is what counts and how much time you spend into it. To me if u don't have premium subcriptions you want get much traffic.

what you said is so true..
  18. Chucklington
It seems really hard to generate traffic, considering how much effort it takes to put in, even as a casual blogger like myself.
    1. nateliao
well..as long as you keep up..you sure can find people who like casual blog!
    2. timethief
      @chucklington
It is hard work. Not only do we have to create great content, but we have to promote every post we publish.
  19. Friday13
    Of course it does.

    I visit it.
