first off - i'm not on facebook but it seems like it comes up everywhere (along with twitter - but that's another discussion)

Of course a facebook page could only add some blog traffic but I wondering does it really add much.

I'm thinking it does not help much because the facebook users are focused on catching up on facebook stuff and not reading a blog.

Facebook users please share your experiences.

It's too early to tell for me. I only just got my RSS feed approved and intergrated into the Facebook networks page for my blog.

I have seen a few people come through from Facebook-- folks on my friends list. If that's what they prefer and it's another avenue for them to visit, I'm fine with that.

I wish I had more lengthy/detailed info to give to you.

I am new to facebook can you please tell me how to put rss feed there??

I have definitely gotten some new readers from having my blog on their networked blog. Like TSR, I haven't had it networked all that long (about 2 months, if that). I figure any new traffic is good and having it listed is easy enough.

The only thing I had concerns about was their TOS but they seem to have worked that out.

mtyler77, any clue how to add or drop fans in your Facebook Networked Blogs? I can't seem to find any buttons or settings. It's very different from a Facebook group where you are the admin and can add/drop or block people with impunity. Thanks!

You know, I just went to my blog on networked blog's -- and I don't think you can drop fans. But networked blogs is an application that works WITH FB, it's not quite the same as the apps provided by FB that were created by them.

And it still seems to be heavily in beta testing and development. I don't think they've developed all their functionality yet. And they're in a building phase. I suspect they don't *want* people to be able to drop, yet. I think they also want to tap into FB's 175,000,000 user base and give Blog Catalog a run for its money. If I were the muckety mucks at BC, I'd be worried. (or scraping together the cash for an acquisition).

Very insightful points--and it really could be huge, I think. It's definitely a very new app.

Well, I for one would be very sad for BC to go the way of Yahoo! and MapQuest and get picked off by an aggressive upstart company, or for BC to become a quaint relic in the social networking market. Time will tell how Facebook and Google Friend Connect peck away at their market share in social blogging. That's two very big dogs for BC to compete against.
    6. melindaville
Definitely. I would hate to see that happen to BC myself. I'm rather fond of this site!

One big disadvantage of Facebook Networked Blogs is that you have to *pay* to broadcast to your fans, whereas that is a free service at Blog Catalog or a Facebook Group. Networked Blogs calls it a [pro] feature and it is a bit of a turn off for me.

My friends do check on the blogs but I actually prefer my contacts not to read my photo blogs...

I never got Facebook to bring new readers...only bashers.

My friend recently joined Facebook and told me that I should do it too, to help advertize my blogs. That's as far as it's gotten...

I get between zippity and doo dah for traffic to my FB page, but I don't promote it at all. I do get traffic from my profile, which I use to link the two pillars of my on-line music presence (BC and Squidoo). That doesn't amount to much, but I'm not one to friend literally hundreds of people in the hopes that they'll reciprocate. I'll add people that I know, in some sense, and use becoming fans of other pages, joining groups, and posting on the updates of others gets me a little exposure for the curious.

As far as direct clicks go? Not much - but I have "connected" with numerous people who I otherwise wouldn't have known who seem to visit through other channels (i.e., they must have me saved as a favorite or follow another existing link). They do tend to comment quite a bit about my posts - which helps.

mmmm not real sure if FaceBook will ever compete with Blogcatalog. I have just recently submitted my Investing blog
    www.blogcatalog.com/blog/australian-uranium-investing
and have had a real increase in traffic, but as yet have not found the same impact with F/Book.

FB is a viral monster if you have a social approach to getting your blog seen. FB has been in my top 5 traffic sources weekly.
