We tried adsense for a little bit but I think you have to have a very large amount of traffic for it to give you substantial money. We were going to leave it up there anyway because I figured it couldn't hurt but they advertised something trashy that I didn't agree with and I thought, screw it, and removed the widget.

@bohemian
I think this thread is related to the one you posted previously. I'm posting a link so others can cross reference to it. That way they can post more ideas for making money for you, other than through adsense, into the thread www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/is-there-an-alternative-to-adsense -
Adsense is so widely used that many visitors are aware of and most likely dont even look at the ads these days! you could still try out different positioning of the ads, color themes and so on. If you want some alternatives, read this article:

Nope, Adsense sucks and PPC in general sucks. I make 100x more using affiliate marketing: Clickbooth is probably the best affiliate company i've used to date. seotips4.com/seoblog/t379/

After 3 years of advertising on several websites, I've finally earned the minimum 100 dollars, and I instantly took the ads down. My best performing site had no real content on it, but really good key words. (Pen pals site I thought I wanted to make, but lost interest.) So people came in looking for pen pals and having found none, clicked on to related sites. The click through rate was almost 50%.
Tells you how much you should aim for good content, doesn't it? -
interesting, I made $50 my first month and have tailed off and only made $15 so far this month, but it hasn't been horrible!

Good for you. I took out adsense and other ad networks from one of my blogs. I had some dollar earnings with adsense but these are really small. Perhaps it has something to do with my traffic. Most of them are ad-blind.

only one thing i can say is careful for the one factor called, smart pricing @googleadsense, when this strikes you, you will start from the scratch, believe me,i've been through, and i did what i have to do, so now for the newbies, always see that your content is rich and enough, don't ever think that having 1000's of blog will increase your earning, that's one way of inviting smart pricing lolz. once you fell through smart pricing, you will start earning 0.01 lolz, and its a known fact.
so watch out for SMART PRICING, forget about getting ban, unless you do some stupid things.
why its called adsense, because it make sense, so figure out this one liner of mine -
I just reached $100 for the month for the first time as of today. I just got up to every other month breaking $100 not too long ago, but finally did it in a single month. I'm happy with that, for now.

I hardly make any money from Adsense. I wish I knew how to generate more income. As it is, I make more from having my blog content syndicated to big sites. But I get very few readers coming onto my site after reading my posts, even though there are always at least two links. Anybody know how to do this right?

I took adsense down once but I didn't like the look of my blog without it, so I put it back. I don't want people to click on it, because when they click, they leave, but they click anyway, which really pisses me off because the money is nothing so I would rather they not click on it. I keep it because it looks like it belongs there, without adsense my blog looks naked

i thing that interest me on adsense is the contextual ad. it makes a site feel more unique and informative. all my sites do have it and i enjoyed it. though i do raise some little bucks from it but yet what interest me is the uniqueness it gave to my sites
