    When I heard of "Plurk"
my mind was in a murk
    I suppose it's my quirk
    that in BC I lurk.
    1. AlexGreat
      I love you poem!

What the hell is Plurk? They have a high Google rating, does that mean I am supposed to stop everything and take notice.

Explain, I have never heard of this before.
  3. lightzoldiac
    it's like twitter.
  4. searchingwithin
Not much into Twitter, but I know there are many who are. Guess I need to get on the ban-wagon with some of these things.

Yeah. One time, I got on a boat ... oh, wait.

    I "lurk" in/around dark places

    plurk doesnt seem dark enough
    1. Friday13
Adjust your monitor's brightness/contrast to make it all dark.

(but you'll have to change it again when you get out of plurk)
    2. lvs
oh no its turning red if i do that
    3. Friday13
Really? Are you decreasing both to the minimum? Take a screenshot so we can see*!

      I don't plurk. Should I?
    2. siralmo
i think you should try it because it gives you options, then when you have options you can choose what you really like
  9. roentarre
It looks troublesome to use though...
  10. siralmo
i find it more useful than twitter, in terms of interaction
  11. MadMadMargo

    1. lailahmorid

    2. siralmo

  17. AlexGreat
On my lips with a smirk
    I decided to plurk
or else you may think I'm a jerk
    and turn on me berserk
    And cause me to irk
    and that doesn't work
    to plurk is a perk
    for us in the murk
    who on this platform lurk
    like a desperate clerk...
    1. siralmo
      hahahaha

      very clever
  18. jackpayne
I have never Plurked. Does this mean life has passed me by?
    1. siralmo
      yes. yes it does
  19. hatingtherain
No. And "plurk" sounds stupid,so I probably never will.
    1. siralmo
      lailahmorid didn't think so
    2. hatingtherain
I suppose you mean something by that.
    3. siralmo
www.blogcatalog.com/user/lailahmorid she posted a couple of posts back
    4. lailahmorid
Haha. It doesn't sound any more stupid than "twitter," "tumblr," "flickr," or any other clever name they're coming up with for social marketing/networking tools.

It's actually pretty fun to do here and there.
  20. jjmezzio
Registered Plurk on last June/July but pretty blank on how to use it. I don't really know how to communicate with Plurk.
  21. siralmo
you know its not so hard its just like twitter
    1. siralmo
it depends on what you would want to get out of it, are you a twitterer???, or have you used twitter before??
    2. acousticguitarist
Yes but I've been so busy I haven't been near it for a few months and there have been so many emails come through from social networking places I feel like if I respond to them all, I would have so many people following me that I'd be under surveillance. :-)

      give me one useful reason
    3. siralmo
for me it is much easier for me to communicate with my readers, but operates the same way twitter does allowing you to post to respective friends and followers, and i never receive emails from plurk

hahahaha under surveilance , 8-| we are watching
    4. acousticguitarist
      Thanks, sounds ok

      How many people us it?
    5. siralmo
im not sure, not very many BC Users By the looks of things
  22. aerobroken
I use twitter and plurk. They are the same but then very different from what I see. I use twitter for more marketing and traffic. I use plurk to interact and take a break. The whole Karma thing is sort of stops spammers from what I see. I just started plurking not long ago, but I have been using twitter for close to 3 months. I have seen a significant raise in traffic to all my sites from using both of them.
    1. siralmo
yes i agree totally, i also use both, but i lean more towards plurk coz of the way you interact with others
  23. SolReka
Plurk, twitter... Such a plethora of SMO websites, it can become quite daunting to say the least.

I've given plurk a go, however I'm sticking with twitter. It seems that twitter is the largest growing SMO of 2008. Did you know that Stephen Fry, followed by John Cleese have the highest Twitter followers in the UK.

Spending too much time on SMO sites can somewhat detract from focussing your attentions on blogging.
    1. lailahmorid
"Spending too much time on SMO sites can somewhat detract from focusing your attentions on blogging."

Good point! That's why I think the Twitter plugin on Wordpress is great because it automatically pings Twitter after you write a blog. Well, it was working well until I upgraded to 2.7...we're waiting for the fix:)
    2. pointlessbanter
      rss2tweet.com/

That will do it for you as well through your feed... no need to use a plugin.
  24. joannechan
If you're joining Plurk.com, please feel free to add me up

    @pointlessbanter
    Whoo Hoo!

Thanks for the info:) I created a new feed! Now I don't have to worry about the plugin guy fixing it! Thanks, Mister:)
  26. juliegaffey
Sorry, never heard of it. I'm already over social mediad out. Myspace, facebook, twitter....it is so hard to keep up with. Maybe the government should take over and we are only allowed one place?
    1. AlexGreat
Plurk feeds to Facebook automatically and back to Blog Catalog so that's one problem solved. I don't know about Twitter though. And I agree about the government all those silly pastimes should be banned and we should only work, work, work not plurk
      plurk.com/AlexGreat/invite joint the revolution!
  27. gamecherry
I tried Plurking once, got my thing caught in my zipper...hurt like hell.
  28. nanaoise
I plurk. My username is kurohiko there.
  29. AProvisionOfGod
I try not to plurk ... but sometime's after a good meal it happens ... oh! wait different word.
  30. gemjeweled
I am a very active plurker. You cannot really appreciate plurk if you don't have a bunch of friends who are actively taking part of it.

By, the way, some of you had said, plurk is like Twitter - I definitely agree on it, but it engages two way conversation than those Tweets. (I'm also active in Twitter too).
  31. geekchick
I'm on plurk and prefer it to twitter because it allows for meaningful conversations.
  32. trimandtrendy
okay. let me join plurk then
