I seldom see some blogs here who has a creative tagline...something that goes..."Techronnati"... "When a professional programmer becomes an avid writer..."
or something similar to that effect.

Does anyone here use tagline for blog promotion?

========this is taken from wikipedia ========
A tagline is a variant of a branding slogan typically used in marketing materials and advertising. The idea behind the concept is to create a memorable phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of a brand or product (like a film), or to reinforce the audience's memory of a product. Some taglines are successful enough to warrant inclusion in popular culture, often becoming snowclones.

    I do...
    the tagline itself is:
a pinch of piffle * a hint of humility * a dash of discovery *

it's on my site and I use it to describe my site, like in the blogcatalog listings, at stumble etc

Do you think taglines are big help in blogs or not? What do you think?

I think it's helpful in particular for folks who are looking to review your blog.

I've seen reviewers use both the tag and my bio info to use in their articles, and I think it helps to quickly set a framework and expectations for what a blog will be about.

    I do.

    My thrifting blog is:
"Home decorating, dreaming and penny-pinching with style."

    And my humor blog is:
    "Life's funny. Embrace the nonsense."

It's punny, I guess. I made it up when I came up with my blog's name.

Taglines are an afterthought, and considered as such, I think.

    Hello pilotcommand and group:

I've taken the advice I've received for book/movie treatments, and combined two popular entities to give everyone a mental image of what to expect. Example I've recently heard: "'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' is Seinfeld on Crack."

I've been pitching my webcomic, Customary Creatures, as "Seinfeld Meets the Far Side" in web banners and directory descriptions. The concepts are not original, but the pairing is. Both the show and comic have been discontinued, so I'm fans may fill the void by possibly reading my comic.

As for my blog header/tagline at Greg's Drawings, I've come up with "Customary Creatures: One Panel Webcomic and Humor-Infused Blog by Greg Sorvig". It gives a fast, compact description to those who may not have the patience to look through the main page and figure things out themselves.

Perhaps I'll come up with something more abstract and creative later, but since the site is so fresh I want to make a conveyable, quality first impression.

Everyone's a critic, but so far I haven't had any complaints about the taglines! Feel free to check out my site: gregsdrawings.com/

Da Dominion's tagline is "Sharp Humor for a Dull World". It kinda ties into our mission statement of dividing quality from crap in entertainment and the media through humorous review and discussion on our forums and in the podcast.

Is it possible that the reason you are activating these 3 threads and dropping your links to your forum into them is to shamelessly promote your forum? If so, then is this the correct approach to take? After all, you could simply post one Shameless Blog Promotion thread and promote your new forum in it.
