Does anyone use the rating option on blog catalogue

On my blog page www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/cornwall-seo.html
there is a rating button, I can't say I have ever rated anyone elses blog.

Am I alone?

I am not sure but I think that those ratings help out quite a bit. Actually, I have been looking at the review ratings recently and I think those help even more. I didn't write the ranking algorithm so I don't know for sure but every time Ive received a review with a high rating it seems like its boosted my raking number by the next day.

  Well you have to ask Daniel, I am sure he will pop his head in this discussion soon. But I think that the ratings (especially in the review area at the bottom) help out quite a bit as far as your BlogCatalog ranking goes.

  the blog reviews do count towards your overall blog rank with an emphasis on recent blog reviews. we do however go through daily and look for any suspicious activity.
  
  as for the rating button/widget those count less than the reviews but still count.

I use the ratings when I do site reviews, and I know others have done the same for me. It's only fair if you're trying to seriously create a catalog that encourages quality.

So based on what the others have mentioned here, the rating system works either way. If you like the blog and have something to say, write a review. If you only like the blog, then rating it would be a good gesture. Am I correct?

  or you can do both. If you have readers or friends dedicated enough to rate and review your blog i think that shows the value in your blog.

I suppose this is the thread I thank all the people who have rated my blog or written a review

The ratings algorithm actually seems to be fairly complex, and in the last couple of months I have noticed it get updated a number of times, that has resulted in sudden changes in rating.

If your rating suddenly drops by 4 points, that doesn't mean you have just had a bad review or received a penalty, but more likely a change in the algorithm.

There are ways to give yourself a bit of a boost, such as including the Blogcatalog widget on your blog. That is a good reciprocal arrangement.

It doesn't seem right to me to rate something without telling the person why it is that I associated that number with their thing. That's just me though. Maybe I talk too much. But it works the other way too.... *shrug* And I didn't know about the rating thing until I got rated myself (thanks gabotron).

I know I talk too much. However, I have to admit that I usually always at least rate. And, if not under a crunch time....I too like to also at least a little something explaining why I liked the blog.

I rated a new blog tonight as it happens. The person had added me as a friend, so of course I checked out the blog, liked it, added the person as a friend, added the blog to my Tech favorites and left a review.

Least I can do when someone takes the trouble to add me as a friend...

I have tried to avoid rating, because that requires a rather thorough look at a blog. But I have felt the urge to leave comments about some blogs. Unfortuntely, BlogCatalog requires a rating with comments, so I tend to avoid both comments and rating. Oh well.

Wow, I actually didn't know you could rate a blog without reviewing it.
Just checked my blog and it seems like everyone who have rated me, reviewed me too...
