Does Cat ownership = Lonely

Theres kind of a social undercurrent that people who own cats (especially more than one or two) are crazy and or lonely? Id like to hear your thoughts, anecdotes and general ravings.

No, I have 5 cats but I also have 5 acres and need the mousers... One of my kids is really a cat person also, he's not into the dogs at all.

Stillthinking

Cats are the most popular pet in the US. There are more cat owners than there are dog owners. I really doubt that all those people are lonely.

I'm a little lonely.

I thought this was a thread started by Goodknife. Avatar confusion.

  possibly...if i can find someone lonely enough to take in a fully grown tiger (and who has a house that backs on to a patch of sub-tropical rainforest)

  hmmm I back to a north American rain forest, it's not as warm and the foilage is different but it's still plenty wet!
