Does Java Script Run on Word Press for your own Widgets?

I have a wordpress.com blog
kdmask.wordpress.com/
They have set widgets you can choose from such as flicker, but when I try to put in blog catalog or blogger buttons, I can't get anything to work but html script in the text box.
Just wondering if there's another spot to put widgets in java that I don't see.

wordpress.com software strips all blogger initiated javascript out to preserve security on the free hosted multiuser platform

The only Blog Catalog widget you can use on a wordpress.com blog is the Recent Visitors widget. www.blogcatalog.com/account/widget
You simply copy and paste the HTML into a text widget and click "Save Changes".
