Does The Colour Of Your Blog Matter?

When I first started my blog I went with a pale, neutral theme, it looked a little dull IMO. I changed it to a much more stylish blue theme but it seemed to turn people off, I guess they didn't like light text on a dark background? I've just changed to a very bright theme, no doubt it makes me feel much better just looking at it! Question is do you think the base colours of your blog theme matter, are you a blue/green person or have you tried something a little different?

I tried dull at first, then changed to a more colorful theme about a week ago. Everyone seems to like it better - Nards

I had a typical blue color similar to here. It's easy on the eyes, but I felt it was too common. There are many blogs that I will immediately stay away from because of the color scheme. It's either the light text on a dark background or some people surprisingly choose text so close to the background color that you can hardly read it.
I changed mine to light pale/cream color with brown text. I've had good feedback. Being totally shameless, I'll give you a link to check it out:

My blog is about sex and romance, so I stuck with a basic (and common) pink layout from the already done ones. I like that it's simple and colorful and doesn't distract the eye or jump out at you.
In the future I might change it to something a little more wild and customized, but still basic so it's not distracting. -
I went for shades of green - just because i thought it was restful, easy on the eye and the text is dark on a white background. Various side panels are a darker shade.
It was a standard template - I've never been brave enough or had the time to try a more adventurous template (i'm on Blogger).
It's here if you want to look - purple13.blogspot.com what green looks like.
The biggest problem with any colour is that it can look different between browsers and individual machines so i wouldn't get too hung up on an exact shade - it will always look different on the next computer anyway. -
I have read a article that even if google search screen is made black there will be some power saving because the computer monitor will consume less power. So with black background of my blog funnyjokes4me.blogspot.com
i am helping in power saving ! -
I think it depends on what it is your site is about. I liked your original scheme (the blue one in your pic) because it seems business like. The orange one has more energy though, and I guess that helps in stirring up excitement about making money online. I loved that peel away corner on your ad! I've bookmarked your site and I'll take a better look when I have more time.

I originally had the black background with beige lettering and thought it looked sexy and cool for my vintage jewelry but my graphic designer friend said that it was a design 101 no no. It makes people work too hard to get the content. I reversed it to a white background with black type and added some soothing blues and I like it so much more. Spacing also helps to focus all of us ADD readers! (shorter sentences, short paragraphs and clear ideas) We all have enough to read so less blah blah blahs!

I've been more focused lately on the content, not so much the colors.
I have to admit when I first got my blog, I went nuts with color but not anymore.
I have been fortune to see some really amazing blogs here and the content is excellent,
so I am more focused on the content. I have lots of work to do and so little time.
Trying to find your own personal style ain't easy and there is so many different ways your blog can go. -
absolutely. if it's not pink, i won't read it. just kidding...seriously, a blog that is visually pleasing (like mine for example...kidding again...not really) is more likely to interest readers. Colour and design capture attention. because blogs have less than 5 seconds to make an impression colour is definitely an important element.
