Drumming up strange traffic, question for you...

Can anyone help me? Whenever I blog, I usually get somewhere between 100-120 readers per day. That's the norm for me. But as of lately, it increased to where it goes up to 200!
Here's the thing: I had masked my url with www.debrapasquella.com to hide the www.dtrant.blogspot.com , so if someone wanted to get to my blog, I can easily guide them with just my name alone, and not having to say dot blogspot dot com. You get my drift.
But, these mass amounts of people who are logging onto my blog are all coming from www.debrapasquella.com . See, the problem with masking the real url is that I no longer have a referral option, because the debrapasquella.com IS the referral to get to dtrant.blogspot. Does that make any sense? So now I cannot see where all of these people are coming from. I'm assuming I got a review from some critic or other, and I'm curious to know where these people are coming from.
I even tried Googling my name and my site and got nothing. Is there any way I can get more info about where these people are coming from? No doubt, I'm happy they're on there, but what's drumming up all the traffic?
Has this ever happened to anybody?

I can't imagine mine being higher than 120! But this was a bit baffling. I wonder if there is any way for me to find out. *sigh* I would like to know which site or where they came from... would help.

If you put statcounter on your blog (I'm sure there are other services), there's a "recent came from" feature that provides some basic info. It's far from perfect, but it gives you a general idea if you've had a ton of hits redirected from one place.
My traffic, modest as it is, has increased quite a bit since I've started making friends on BC (thanks all). -
I use webSTAT ( www.webstat.com/ ) for tracking. They've got a free option - with a visible counter, I believe - but their charge for the expanded service is worthwhile. For me, anyway.
That won't answer you 'what happened before' question - but it's a thought for future tracking.
Google analytics *might* work - but I'm not sure about a situation like yours, where you're redirecting. On the other hand, it's free.
Finally, as intriguing as this sort of thing is - I've decided to stop trying to figure out the short-term spikes and valleys in traffic. Changes (or lack of change) that lasts more than a few days - that's something to try tracking.
Best wishes.

I use Sitemeter, but the referral is only showing, www.debrapasquella.com ... It used to show me the referral once I had just www.dtrant.blogspot.com , but my new name for my url is masking the referral. Does that make sense? So, the referral shows the first name, and then it goes into dtrant. I am so screwed on seeing where they came from.

This is because you're using a frame to read the content from the blogspot.com address. That's your problem.
That's why your new domain isn't properly indexed in the search engines also, since it only has one page - the same page with the frame.
You have to get your domain aliased with the blogspot domain. But how - don't ask me. I don't use Blogger and for a good reason. I prefer self-hosted platforms.

Right, I know that part, where is name is masking the blogspot, and I like blogspot for reasons of intergrading with others more accessibly, however I guess I'll never find out where and why these people are logging on so many at a time. Just bizarre. I remember once, there was a blog critic review, which drew people in for a short period of time. But now, I wish someone would email me and let me know what's going on. You're absolutely right though, Onlineblogger----it is because of the domain name.
*sigh* -
There is something you could try. Make a new stats counter for your www.debrapasquella.com domain and add it to the page where you have that frame set up. That way you can find out exactly where the people have come from.
Just give it a try, it couldn't hurt

I agree with OnlineBlogger Pasquella. You might want to consider cheap hosting for your blog and then capitalize on the traffic monitoring solutions offered there or with Google Analytics.
Hadean.Org uses both Analytics and the Wordpress Stats application that comes standard with wordpress stuff. Between the two I know the who, what, where and the why. It helps me capitalize on where to focus my limited time for marketing.
You can get web hosting cheap for as little as 65$ a year, at least that is what I pay per domain/hosting account.

Well, the thing is, I already paid $75 for 5 years to have the www.debrapasquella.com part added on. My blogspot account has 5 years worth - or should I say, over 1,000 posts written on there. Not sure how to transfer all of that onto a new website and then have to change my entire web address.
I have tried the sitemeter to be set up to debrapasquella.com , however the referrals are showing, "unknown"---no other information. But when I go into my blogspot sitemeter account, the referral information is available.
I guess I'll have to live with it. I don't want to have to start all over... Another question -does anyone know any sites or services that'll back up your entire blog content? I should start another thread asking that or check BC if someone already asked that question.
Thanks for all your help! I really appreciate all the advice!
