The Burj is so cool this one is cooler! Thanks for the info:)

Oh I just wonder, will the people inside the building get dizzy with the constant shape shifting? LOL! Who would wanna have an office in there ... hmmmm

Cheers Earthling - we hear it'll be residential and commercial!

    Living & working.

Cheers Jack - very well put!!

Wow! What a great building this will be!

It's for a Star Wars episode XVIII and counting, but not for Earth. IMO.

It also seems rather energy-inefficient, which is the wrong way to go these days.

? I saw this on the BBC site, doesn't seem inefficient at all

"The slender building would be energy self-sufficient as the turbines would produce enough electricity to power the entire building and even feed extra power back into the grid, said the Italian architect at the unveiling of the project in New York."

Hi Jan - they are promising it to be an eco friendly building!

      Gulp.

What mattclark said: this is the first time that I'm aware of, that there's been a serious attempt to use an entire building as a sort of windmill.

I wrote a post about this around 3 days ago, its an amazing building

I can't view the video but I think this is what they call the "Da Vinci Rotating Tower".

Yes this is amazing. Before, buildings were designed to be in equilibrium, now there is motion involved. The aesthetic value did not impress me that much but the concept does.

      Agreed braincatcher!

I wonder if you get travel sick when you're inside it?

It looks like an amazing concept though.

I checked it out - oddly enough typically Dubai

      Agreed and expect more...

Amazing! I hope to go to Dubai next year. I love buildings and that one would have me entranced for many hours/days/weeks.

Hmmm, it is very cool but I wonder if they will actually be able to pull it off, that seems to be quite a challenge!
    1. Norski
Perhaps an understatement. I'll be following this project with interest.

Didn't Donald Trump put a new hotel or something near you that looks like a palm tree and it's connected over water or something?

God I hate the decadence of the Gulf. UAE? Hrumphhhh......

Thanks for this thread - and the post with the video.

    A remarkable project.

Being shamelessly self-serving, here are some short posts related to the project:

    apatheticlemming.blogspot.com/2007/09/new-spin-on-skyscrapers-literally.htm...

About the spinning floors: One article said that the floors turn at a rate of one rotation in 90 minutes. That might be perceptible as motion, but I doubt that many people will get motion sickness from it.

The video you posted speeds up the rotation rate, for obvious reasons.

    Very, very cool project.

Cheers Norski - we'll hold the party when its built!

    Cool building.
I'm just wondering though...will you have to chase the doors around on the first floor in order to get into it? "Hey...wait for meeeeeeeee!" Hehehe
    1. gosmelltheflowers
      Health and safety anyone??
  16. Dukepro25
    Shweeeet!

I'd hate to be one of the hundreds in that thing to find out it doesn't quite work.

    LOL!!!
