- Traffic. Schedules. Work. Family. Friends. Drama. Life. The number one complaint of the day is, “I have no energy.” Yet, we can reclaim the natural energy our body contains. In fact, leading scientists in the study of natural health proclaim the benefits of daily laughter, as it assists in alleviating the impact of stress on the body.
Laughing is equated to a low-impact aerobic exercise so it is heart-healthy. Yes, even the most serious-minded can gain value in creating “aha” moments from “lol” experiences.
The Eight Irresistible Principles of Having Fun
www.eightprinciples.com/
Summary:
1. Get focused. Stop hiding who you really are. Take time to figure out your DNA. When it comes right down to it what do you stand for? Then when you know who you are - turn up the volume.
2. Get focused. Start being intensely selfish. Get hungry for the things that are really important to you. Think of the people you respect and love, the moments you want to relish, the impact you have and the legacy you want to leave. Bottom line: Don’t waste your time on anything else.
3. Be Creative. Stop following the rules. Almost all of the rules are negotiable. Branch out and bear fruit.
4. Be Creative. Start scaring yourself. Explore the edges, dip your toe in the bold, the outrageous and the unthinkable. Seek out and have adventures.
5. Use your wisdom. Stop taking it all so damn seriously. In this moment is it a life and death decision? In 10 years will you remember what you are fretting about? In 100 years will anyone care? Lighten up this too will pass.
6. Use your wisdom. Start getting rid of the crap. Think of all that suffering that’s getting weighing you down and getting in the way. Not just the things but also the habits, memories, attitudes and people. Get rid of the clutter.
7. Take action. Stop being busy. Being busy is seductive. Just because you are going flat out doesn’t mean you are on the right track. If it’s the wrong hole you need to stop digging.
8. Take action. Start something. Don’t wait any longer for permission to do what you want to do. There are always reasons to procrastinate just a little longer. Enough! Just start!

Thanks to advances in nanotech promised by Paul McEuen, Cornell PHD and the first guy in the world to make a nanotube transistor, (I was lucky enough to land a seat at his lecture when he visited OSU) we just might be able to get to know our DNA very soon and for less than it would cost to buy and Ipod:) So, science has your back timethief!

I always have biscuits. All my friends dogs ♥ me. I keep them in my pockets and they can smell them. I don't feed them to the dogs when my friends are watching, so they think I have a special way with animals. I'm kind of like a pied piper without the flute - animals follow me. (Actually, when it comes to sick animals I do have a special way with them. )

The animations cool, and coupled with the audio almost hypnotic. I don't agree with number 2. I think the world would be a lot happier if we weren't so selfish.

Hi there. I can understand why you have taken that position. On the surface I would have tended to agree with you if I hadn't read the second part. "Think of the people you respect and love, the moments you want to relish, the impact you have and the legacy you want to leave. Bottom line: Don’t waste your time on anything else."

(1) What did you think of the eight principles?
These principles are very good rules. I think that reading them tend to be therapeutic to people like me constantly bathed in stress.
(2) Do you disagree with any of these principles? If so, which ones and why?
In general, they are rules to apply postiviely and sensitively. Rules are rules. They are up to interpretation.
(3) Do you have any other principles for having fun that you would like to add?
Not really

I believe many of the 8 principles are mentioned in my blog posts perhaps worded differently but as Friday mentioned many people are not interested in reading or following them. When I had the 7 day challenge, I only had 10 people taking up the challenge and 5 dropped out within a couple of days. It appears if something is very controversial or of a negative nature or trivial, there is a wider audience and followers, either in the discussion or in the blog. I have reduced the length of my posts, hoping brevity might coax readers, we shall see! LOL

All good principles, though I think you and I would define "selfishness" differently [2]. I do believe that by your honor, your dignity and your integrity you should do well by those around you and even serve others, but I would actually agree with the substance of (2) and just would offer a word of caution to keep your dignity and honor, as without these things your life will become shallow and your fulfillment unstable - you will have low lows.
