Just wondering how many people out there are using Entrecard. Are you seeing increased traffic? Is the bounce rate huge? Are you getting more comments? For those who have monitzied blogs, are you making any more?

    The bounce rate is huge!
It helps if you have a new blog, but for an established blog, don't waste your time

Entrecard WAS good in the beginning, now it's being abused and I don't really use it as much (but still have the widget on my blog).

I stopped dropping but people still drop on me and my bounce rate from Entrecard has been over 90% on the regular. Matter of fact, the last few days people have spent 2 seconds on my blog with a 98% bounce rate.

Luckily, I don't rely on Entrecard for my traffic www.datmoney.com/2008/03/if-you-didnt-have-entrecard-your-blog.html

I'm using it now and I think it's great. There really is more value to it that meets the eye.

I would love to be able to place a widget into my Wordpress apparently we can't place scripts... i feel like a cheat, I signed up and have dropped cards , not to mention accepted many ads but... I don't even have a widget. Does anyone know how to get around that? or of a plug-in? Thanks, hey much luck on all your blogs folks.

There should be a way, I know I've seen Wordpress blogs on my blog visits with Entrecard. A great question to post on their forum. You will instant advice. I started EC a few weeks ago and love it.

Hey thank for the input. I will send them another round of question on their forum I have seen a growth in visitors to my blog, this leads to interest in my business on my website services. Meaning...$$$$

I'm going to bug them on their forum again. THANK GUYS!!!

from what i hear entrecard is great if all you're looking for is to boost some stats, but apparently the traffic it brings you is just from other entrecard users just wanting to drop their card.

where is the value in that?
    1. ginahomolka
Good point, does anyone have a better solution to get traffic other than blogcatalog? I have discovered some great blogs with EC. Blogs I would have never seen before. Some I enjoy visiting everyday.

    No value, it sucks.
  7. Sogeshirts
Yeah i just signed up a week ago and its just a drop and roll cause as soon as someone drops they bail off the site fast.
    1. epm1013
      @Sogeshirts,

I would say most people do. However, the real value for me has been staying at some sites and finding some great content that can assist me.

The high bounce rate is truly a negative side effect of entrecard. I would love more card droppers to have a look at my content also. Whenever I am dropping a card I am always trying to at least read one post. But I guess all traffic sources have their negative sides.

Hey, if you are a drop and run person, you're just going to get "fake traffic" and whats the point in that? You might as well not even write a new post in your blog...
  10. epm1013
As of 12:44pm today, I've received 7 referrals from Entrecard and 2 referrals from BlogCatalog.
    1. offendedblogger
That's fine but those referrals were most likely dropping a card and nothing else. How long did they stay compared to the ones from BC?

Overall, I'm sure you'll find quality over quantity is better.
    2. whojaybe
Agree with Offended... honestly, if you want to generate a lot of fake traffic, you can shoot right up to hundreds of uniques visitors a day. But then again, I bet they'll stay on your blog for less than 10 seconds!
    3. offendedblogger
If he puts up a nudie pic, they might stay for 13.2 seconds.

    boreded of it
  12. kellybax
I totally agree about getting fake traffic from droppers. But, do you think you get any visits when your ad shows on someone else's blog?? They show the stats so you know how many hits you get from each ad, although I am never sure if someone is faking the clicks so you will "buy" ads from their blog again.
    1. offendedblogger
Hmmm.. never thought about that but I get such little traffic from EC that it really doesn't matter.

Stumble is my best friend for high volume, but honestly, I get the most loyal readers by doing it the old fashioned way and that is visiting blogs and leaving comments.

About half of my traffic comes from Entrecard at this point and I do not consider it junk traffic at all. I often get new first time comments from Entrecard visits. I can also see from my page view stats that a significant number of my EC visitors click on "read more" and actually read a full post. Occasionally I get a crowd of Stumblers stumbling through but they never seem to comment or come back again the next day.
  14. Mandi3939
I'm still on the fence about this - my comment rate has jumped, and I'm getting more repeat commenters, and so far, the bounce rate is only slightly higher than StumbleUpon.

It's damn ugly (the ugliest app in the world) and it sucks. There are lots of other more elegant and efficient ways to generate traffic (if you really need).

My entrecard for the previous 30 days sent me 3100 visits, they stayed for 1.5 minutes on site.

Stumble sent about the same number of visits and they stayed on site for 37 seconds on average.

That said, I used to like it but they have screwed it up good now.

I did it on the new blog, and within a day I felt overwhelmed. For one thing, I don't have time to visit all those blogs--I've got about 24 blogs bookmarked from BC alone and I sort of wade my way through those. Or I click on a person's name here on the discussion board and visit. For me, if I'm doing something, I want to do it right. And I felt I just couldn't keep up with EC, although I did have quite a few referrals and like 20 ads to approve or decline. So for now it isn't right for me, but I'm not ruling it out completely. best, Kay

I've been with StumbleUpon for 6 months and when I get stumbled I might get 3-500 in a day or 2-no comments, no subscribers, no clicks.

I've been a "troll" (as we used to say in the old days) over here and EC for a month and then joined both a few days ago. Seeing MANY of the same people. No traffic from here but nice people and lots of information. And who can put a price on that? Ahhhwwwwww!

But EC (like SU)is a serious, and I mean serious, time commitment if you want to do right by people and actually read and comment. But again, NICE people and good info. Still not much on clicks, but the big difference is lots of reading/commenting and a solid feel of community. Yes, a giant percentage of them are in it for the drops, but if your titles are catchy you will stop people in their tracks.

I've been using entre card for like 1 month now, I simply love it.. it give me the opportunity to advertise my site on some popular site absolutely for free. plus it also provides me with some extra visits daily to my blog...

    Entrecard.com rocks!
  20. cayasm
Your card is advertised on my site right now!
  21. JillSaxon
I like Entrecard. It's true A LOT of the people don't stay for very long, but some do and comment and return and that's good enough for me. If I can pick up even one more regular reader, then I count that as a success.

Now, I AM burned out on dropping cards. It's boring and time consuming, and even worse for me because I actually read posts. And now, since card dropping is no longer a factor in your ad price, I only return drops made on me. I used to try and do 300, but no more!
  22. monkeytale
I really don't care about the bounce rate. Any and all traffic exchange sites have that. (Blogmad, Blogsoldiers, BlogExplosion, Entrecard, etc.) I get a great deal of worthwhile readers and comments from people using Entrecard though.

I look at it more from an advertising standpoint though, it's free and many people, not members of Entrecard, are clicking through to my blogs from the adverts. That's where the real value lies, not from the chain droppers.
  23. flamingpoodle
I've trippled my traffic with entrecard. The great thing is, it seems like the traffic is staying there, even though most of it doesn't come from entrecard anymore. Weird.

Well, it worked for me, much better than blogrush.
  24. ccRicers
Entrecard seems to do fairly good for new blogs to get exposure, but as your popularity grows I see diminishing returns. Read my take on Entrecard here: www.zerodom.com.
  25. atrais
I don't care about the bouncerate either. I use it to explore the blogoshpere. Lots of fun blogs out there.
  26. MadameX
I'm not sure when Entrecard added the "recent posts from members" feed to the front page, but I've been getting traffic from that. Prior to that, it was what a lot of people report--lots of clicks but only a handful of visitors who stuck.

Randomosity did not favor me, though--the post that showed up in that feed was on my Search Engine Question Pool blog, and clicking straight through to an individual post on that blog is likely to cause brain damage: if you haven't read the initial post, I don't think you could possibly think anything except "Why in the heck is she telling us this?"
  27. pumpkinlights
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what is bounce rate?
    1. MadameX
Different stat programs calculate it slightly differently, but it boils down to the percentage of people who click through to your site and then leave again almost immediately without visiting any other sites.

Entrecard traditionally has a high bounce rate because a lot of people visit blogs in rapid succession to accumulate their drops for the day and don't really stop to read or look around.
  28. globalgirl
If you have enormous time on your hands (unemployed, live on trust fund, stay at home mom) and like spending time online CLICKING on OTHER entrecards on other blogs, go to it. Otherwise, forget it. It just wasn't worth any investment of my time.

Now, BC, on the other hand...
