Topics: blog promotion, entrecard
I just started using entrecard to promote my blog and it seems like a lot of work. I was wondering if others got good results from this and how much time they invested on it??

I don't use it anymore on my main blog because it was a lot of work and it inflated my "hits" count because people just popped in & out to hit the "drop" button.
I use it on my photo blog because there's no reading involved in that blog ... so when people pop in & out to click the drop button they're more likely to look at the photos and may return ... or stay for more than 1 second.
I usually only "purchase" ads on photo blogs and I've found that I am getting a bit more traffic, because I'm getting my blog noticed by other photobloggers. And by "purchase" I don't mean "pay for them" I never do that. -
I have been taking the time to comment on the blogs that I visited but I have not noticed a lot of that in return and also not to be mean the quality of some of the blogs that I have read has not been great.

When I first started to use it I just looked through the categories I was interested in, mainly personal, art and photography. From there I added the ones I liked to my favourites.
If folks that I already read have entrecard, I add then to my favourites as well, then just drop and advertise between them. -
I've only done it for a few weeks and I was getting pretty annoyed with all the time going into dropping cards. The traffic I was getting was very low quality. Then I spent time on the forums and earn some credits placing comments. I also started using the drop inbox to just drop to sites who dropped on me. The techniques allowed me to earn ec faster, which I used to buy more expensive ads. Now I'm getting a blend of traffic with a lot less effort.

Entrecard can be used many ways. After a short time, I've found it's hardly any work at all. Many of the blogs I visit have it anyway. I used to stress and try to find blogs, and be sure to check my list of who dropped on me, etc. Now, I just do my thing, and if the blogs have entrecard, that's just an extra benefit. I drop about 40 cards a day or so. I have a different card on each of my 4 blogs. The 3 that I don't use a lot, have others just drop on them.
My main blog I drop 40, and have about a dozen or more drop on me every day. Entrecard gives me credits for posting, and I get credits for advertising, so I'm up to around 4000 on my main blog. My others have a total of maybe 1000. In the last few weeks, I've given away about 5000 to friends and contest winners. It's a good tool. It's not the be all, end all, it's just one more thing to help bring traffic. -
i have come across many quality blogs using Entrecard, but at first it *is* a lot of work. i have found that a total blitz in the beginning to build up credits and then a weeding out worked pretty well for me. in surfing the blogs, i've found some fascinating and interesting work out there, and now it's changed into more networking than dropping for the sake of dropping. i've hear the new entrecard toolbar makes it much quicker, but i haven't installed it or used it yet.
anytime i find a quality blog, no matter how many i have to go through, it's worth it. -
I have visited about 80 new blogs and only found two that I actually liked..I guess I am just looking for ways to get the most out of the time I spend promoting my blog as I find it the least enjoyable part of blogging.

Exactly it's not worth it. You'd be better off finding links at blogs you like and stopping into see what is around. I honesty think most of the entrecard stuff in disingenuous and does not get you the kind of readers you'd get if you just read and commented on blogs. Unless you have a very specific genre like "art" "green" and so on where I think you can find some good blogs.
I don't know many people who really bother with any of that on a daily basis. If your readership takes longer to come it is more likely to stay.

Entrecard is good for new blog but when your blog grows bigger then you will have less time surfing entrecard site for advertising . I still have it on my blog . I have only been approving sites for the past month and have not advertised on any site in that time as a result zero traffic from there .
