The EU's Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive seems to be protecting Europe from big, bad, cookies.

And anybody who uses Google Analytics.

Still, it could be worse: The EU leaders could have insisted that all long-distance communications be done by carrier pigeon.

To make this a discussion: Is it a good idea to have neo-Luddite technophobes make up rules for the rest of us?
