a friend of mine wants to get some kind of exotic pet (she's leaning towards a monkey or chinchilla)....any ever had an exotic pet and was it a good or bad experience?

the most exotic thing i've had was a lizard. not that exciting.

We have a Brazilian Rainbow Boa in the basement -- but it belongs to my brother in law. Funny, it's been here for 8 months...

It's quiet - and it makes me sad. He used to be in a classroom in NYC and now he's in the basement and only sees us when we go down to do laundry. Brother in law keeps saying he'll come and get him, but he never seems to show up. We don't have any other spot to put Mr Snake

When I was 9 I had a budgie... it got out while I was cleaning its cage, and the (not so exotic) cat caught it and ate it.

I tend to stay away from pets since then.

Ack! Our cat did that to a parakeet. Very sad. Bad kitty.

I should've known not to let snacks fly around the living room. =D

I had 3 anoles when I was a kid. Later in life I raised peacocks & game birds (not sure if that counts as "pets," however.)

I considered getting a capuchin monkey, but I researched them and realized they would be more like a child than a pet. They live in families. It's not fair for people to take them from their mothers.

i had an uncle who had a capuchin (long before i was born) and as cute as it was, it was a terror. opening cupboards, getting into things, making huge messes, etc. eventually i think he donated it to a zoo or some kind of wildlife habitat

I did - but she escaped, put on a mask, and began blogging. Now I've got no one to bark orders to about putting lotion on their skin.

Lets see, I have three giraffes kickin' it in the back yard, a polar bear chillin' in the bathtub, a penguin relaxing in my freezer, a siberian tiger lounging around watching tv and a bald eagle out scouting the neighborhood in the front yard. So, no I dont have anything exotic.
