Ever had that moment where you watch one of your all-time favorite movies and realize that it's actually a pretty bad film?

That just happened to me. I haven't seen "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" in over a decade. Before that, I saw it at least 10 times and laughed my arse off!

But now it's just so dumb and corny to me - darn it!

I was disappointed by Boorman's "Excalibur" 20-something years later (although I still like aspects of it.)
In a similar vein, I realized how bad the TV show "Gilligan's Island" was when I sat down for an episode in my 30s. I remembered how my bro & I would RUN home after school to see it. Funny how things change.

I saw the first superman movie years ago, I can remember how I was truly impressed with the special effects. I was able to watch a copy again, we'll compared to the latest superman flicks it does not look so good anymore. You got to credit the developments of special effects for that.
Men in tights was really funny I think I watched it 3 times. I noticed the mole move in the later part of the movie.

I was thinking about Superman...I loved it when it first came out...I watched it recently...lol, I dunno, maybe it was because I was younger the first time I saw it. But it just didn't work for me this time.

When I watch Gone With the Wind, I keep picturing Clark Gable standing on a box to make him taller - I also see the "set" all the time instead of viewing the scenery as real.

Oh, for me it was Salem's Lot, the original. When I was young and saw it, it scared the crap out of me. Now it just looks hokey.

frankly, the original star wars movie ... i didn't recall the dialogue being so stilted. but i don't care. i still love the original 3 movies anyway.

can't say there's any that i won't watch which i used to love. for whatever reason, it's pretty easy for me to accept them as artifacts of a particular time.

I don't think a film is bad if it entertains you. I don't give a crap what critics think, anyway.

I was a teenager around the time when British censorship got all touchy feely and banned a whole batch of films that were deemed too gross.

One that I saw and loved was a spoof horror called 'REANIMATOR', and twenty years later, they showed it on TV late one night (show's how times have changed).

I was sooo looking forward to seeing it again, but it just didn't live up to the praise I'd bestowed upon it. Twenty years on, I found it totally gross

Perhaps the censors were my age now, when they banned it!

In middle school, I thought Mortal Kombat was amazing. In college, I shake my head and think, "I liked this crap!?" hahaha.

Sometimes it's best to see a movie once and just leave it with a good memory.

We've had that moment with a few kiddie cartoons. He-man is just silly now, but we can't get enough of those Smurfs.

What's horrifying is to go back and watch episodes of crap like ALF, Small Wonder, and the A-Team. You'll be amazed at what used to entertain you.

Some movies don't stand the test of time, which is sad. Some of my favorites like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Zulu are really starting to show their age.

I recently watched "Top Gun"... although bad as it is, it still lends itself to lots of quotable quotes!

The A-Team and Knight Rider, wow I used to be addicted to them, now I doubt I could watch more than a few minutes, but Magnum PI is still good, must be the car,it's red and it goes fast

    I agree.

Mwahahahahahaha - just had to go back and bump one of the earliest comments I could find of yours.

Yeah, when we got some older movies from Netflix because they were 'awesome' when we were younger and they turned out to be really BAD, I felt the same. One was 'Flatliners' and another was 'Flash Gordon'. I so loved both when I was younger and now...yikes.
