Yesterday, I let my son drive the car at the Safari. He was only responsible for the wheel and I pushed the pedals. He was OK.
p.s. He is four years old. -
Oh yes I have! I taught a friend of mine - and believe me you it's much harder to teach a pseudo adult who has developed fears and is already stubborn and doesn't like to be told what to than it is to teach a teenager!
(I helped teach my brother when he was a teen too...)
It was fun though...-
Buy me a ticket, I'll come out there and teach your kiddo to drive, and play with bears...
It'll be a rip-roaring good time!
Just remember this much, the more nervous you are (air braking, grabbing the oh-shit handles, gasping, pointing excitedly) will only make him more nervous. And thats not good!
Start out in a big, empty parking lot - or field. Fields are great for teaching how to really handle a car without all the risk (pulling donuts, swerving, fishtailing) then graduate to suburban roads with left hand signals at all intersections!
Or, pay someone else to teach him

yes, and what I disaster (I learned I was not a good teacher YIKES). I was so nervous I made my daughter nervous and she crashed into the garage.Luckily we were both fine, but the car needed a new door.

Kdawg, might I suggest a piece I wrote years ago on why women are backseat drivers? It was originally published in the Birmingham News newspaper, but later I added to my Associated Content material.
