evolution is the most probable for me
    1. oscargecko
Why? What do you base that upon?
    2. amrhima
On the fact that evolution stood many tests, it is highly improbable that it was wrong after all that. Aside from the fact that the others are highly improbable.
    3. oscargecko
Evolution is part fact and part theory. The facts have stood the test of time, but the theory is still in flux...
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_as_theory_and_fact

And Creation has stood the test of time. It has not been proven wrong.
    4. amrhima
Creation might never be proven wrong, but being falsifiable is a complicated subject, and i think evolution sometimes makes falsifiable claims that pass the tests.

    Leprechauns... I've seen one

Evolution vs creation is yet another false debate - You can quite conceivably have creation and evolution.

What should be opposed to evolution is fixism. What should be opposed to creation is primordial chance.

How is it a "False Debate?" Or do you mean a debate that has no answer?

      Which do you believe in?
    2. harveyavatar
It is false in the sense that you could have creation with evolution.

In truth, the question of evolution or not does not interest me too much... to the question of why does man walk upstraight on his hind legs, I think Aristotle puts it best: "to contemplate"
    3. wagerwitch
In other words - Harvey is saying: The point of how we evolved does not matter.

How the first piece of GOO (that may have evolved) came into being in the first place is the REAL question.

Because without the piece of GOO - evolutions matters not.

      Indeed WW

    God and Creationism

Although sometimes I think my brother is the missing link...
    1. oscargecko
Why? (Not about your brother though... It was funny, and I do understand.)

First of all, simply put, because the Bible tells me so. I believe the Bible to be the Word of God.
      John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The order and complexity of the world and mankind testifies to an Intelligent Being. (ex. The earth is positioned perfectly from the sun to sustain life. Move the earth one way or the other, we'd burn up or freeze.)

Random chance created the miracle of life? I don't think so.

      In brief.

The Bible is the word of God because The Bible says so?
    4. Rebecca7
For me personally, the Bible has the ring of truth. I know in my heart it is right. And the Bible is consistent in that it is all about the Savior, from the beginning to the end. The whole of the Bible ties together and culminates in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament prophesies a person and the New Testament presents that person, Jesus Christ.

There is internal evidence that the Bible is the Word of God. Those verses are available upon request, though I realize that skeptics dismiss the internal proof.

There is historical, archeological, and manuscript evidence of the correctness of the Bible. And in fact, archeologists continue to find evidence today in the land of Israel.

There is prophetic evidence of the truth of the Bible, both historical, as well as prophecies that are currently being fulfilled before our eyes.

Changed lives are testimony to the truth of the Word of God.

And the indestructibility of the Bible is proof that its author is Divine.

Understand, this is in brief and I am answering a question that was directed at me.

If anyone sincerely wants to search for the truth (the Bible is the source of truth), there are many apologetics out there that you can easily find on the Internet to answer questions. Ravi Zacharias comes to mind, as well as Frank Turek

But I know most of these kind of questions are just designed to pull people into endless debates.

Dismiss it as you will, but my heart and my life experiences proves to me that God is real and so is His Word. That's not to convince you, but it keeps me grounded in what I believe.

      Well said...

I brought it up because I prefer hearing people say

"I believe it to be true"

      rather than the more controversial

"It is true because it says it is true"

Personal responsibility for a system of beliefs is necessary for me to be able to respect it.

The whole randomness thing . . . . there are 100 billion stars in our galaxy. There are about 100 billion galaxies with similar number of stars each. We are talking about 1 throw of the dice to end up with a planet in the right spot (as well as a thousand other things that had to happen for there to be life). We are talking about throwing the dice 100 billion squared times. With that many chances, randomness can do a lot of things.

i'm for leprechauns, but big ones
  7. wtfwjd
I believe in evolution and God. The two are not by any means mutually exclusive. Anyone who tells you otherwise is an enemy of progress.

How about all of the above?

If one can exist, then in my opinion, it is quite possible that ALL can exist.

      *claps*
    2. oscargecko
Maybe leprechauns do exist. I do not know. I am not God.

Research is progressing.. I'll let you know later

That is what I like... a good honest answer.

    LOL. This is funny.

    What? No 'Aliens' option?
  12. legbamel
Y'know, from the title I thought we were getting back to the gnomes. [sigh] I like leprechauns, in theory, but for solid reality I'm going to have to go with the scientific method.
