My grandmother just moved in with us and she has a severe case of dementia. I try really really hard to be patient. I don't know when she is faking or not because it goes in and out.
"Dementia symptoms may include asking the same questions repeatedly; becoming lost in familiar places; being unable to follow directions; getting disoriented about time, people, and places; and neglecting personal safety, hygiene, and nutrition."
It is beginning to take a emotional and physical toll on my entire family. Do anyone have any experience with someone with dementia or Alzheimer? What do you suggest?

Yes, had a family member who suffered from Alzheimer's before passing. It was quite a painful experience to behold. Thankfully, in almost a destined moment of closure, during my last conversation with them, they recalled vividly a cherished moment we shared in my early childhood. All the more remarkable considering this was sandwiched in beteen bouts of utter confusion and lack of understanding as to who we were or where we were.
Suggestions? Be there for them and be understanding. Cherish every moment you do have together, even if they are less than ideal. Once they are gone, you can't have those moments back.
