Extending An Olive Branch

As an extension of Bloggers Against Abuse Day I’d like to carry that theme over to here today.
Let’s all play nice today in our discussions.
At this time I’d like to apologize to anyone that I’ve offended through various thread discussions lately. Not so much for disagreeing on different topics, but simply for the fact that an offense has been taken.
Disagreements are going to happen, but what I’d like to see (myself included) is leaving vitriol/spiteful comments out of the equation when responding in threads. And who knows, one day can pass without it, then perhaps another, then another, and before you know it a week can go by. Then perhaps even longer.
And that’s pretty much it. Now I’m off like a frat boy on a panty raid to check out the blogs blogging about abuse today.
Have a super day all!

Being nice: Not a bad idea.
I think the concept is also called courtesy, sometimes diplomacy.
Actually, it's a good idea.
Reminds me of a definition of diplomat: someone who can step on your toes without scuffing them.
BTW: I hope you checked out the start of my 'blogging for hope' post(s) before making your statement.
In brief, I'm blogging in support of short people. -
I've away due to wonky DSL. I missed something I guess. But if Mikster has been incorrigible, I volunteer to spank him.
(See what happens when I'm deprived of adequate internet access? I get all weird. And stuff.) -

No, no, no, no one is advocating keeping one's mouth shut. Disagreements are par for the course in some discussions. Healthy debate even. We just had a few people getting into name calling which never solves anything. There's nothing wrong with posting your thoughts just because they're polar opposite of someone else's. Or for that matter calling someone out when things get a little ridiculous/ludicrous, just leave the name calling out is what I'm getting at.
Or the use of profanity since we have some kids in here as well.

I would happily accept some olives from your olive branch, ideally in a cocktail of some description.

Good on ya mate
Yeah I vehemently disagree with some people on here but, I don't hate em, so I'm extending some chocolate to you
-
Actually I think a better description of a diplomat is "a diplomat these days is nothing more than a Header Waiter who is occasionally allowed to sit down". Not that I am bitter. Yes being nice. It's what we Brit's do best.

Warm, fuzzy and sucked in again ... a 30 day no activity thread closure policy/practice would be cool
-
Closing a thread does not remove it from the forum searchbox. That thread is still retrievable and it can be linked to when starting a new thread on the same subject.
Therefore, I don't see any problem with closing threads. I'm not sure what possible advantage may be perceived for having mile long threads that one has to scroll and scroll and scroll to get to the end so they can post.
If you see some advantage to be gained then will you please state what you perceive that advantage to be?

Olives?
Good idea. But screw being like water.
Be like vodka.
And be like dry vermouth.
Shaken, not stirred. -
Thanks Globalgirl. I had no intention of being a smart alec....surprised at the query on my attention to dates...I always was a bit slow and I figured anything was safe in a forum that was promoting "being nice". I was merely seeking relief and keeping ranting for my blog. By the way I love the Global thing - do you know of Derreck Ashong? Have you heard of theshiftmovie.com? I think it would be right up your street.....

I have not seen abuse going over too well in this community. I would say this community has the most sensitive nose for abuse of any I have been in, except maybe Paranoid Anonymous. :-)
I am a major abuser, which I did not know till I got here.
One of my main goals in life is to never abuse anyone. -
A lesson on "being nice" inspired by the discussion "what would you change?"

Not a very good one, but there you are. I tried. -
This is just bizarre. A discussion ripped completely out of context more than half a year later. Are you listening to the suggestions about this, BC? Timethief has a pragmatic idea above.
