I was out and about this weekend, and I began to notice the new trend that was first talked about in Vogue's April Issue...the reemergence of Shoulder pads. I remember when I was little, the era of Designing Women, The Cosby Show, Dallas and Falcon Crest, when the Sugarbaker Sisters, Claire Huxtable, and the Gioberti Channing women would don their should pad filled jackets, blouses and parade around their homes.

Well the 'T-Definition' in jackets, blouses and dresses are back. It was an emerging Spring Trend, and judging from the fall review it will be a hit in the fall as well. But guess what, it is not just for women; Justin Timberlake has been spotted wearing padded t-shirts. I know, it sounds crazy, but it was actually a good look. I never got rid of my shoulder pads.

People would look at me strange - but ya know what?

    I like 'em.

Yes, the 70's remergence has died out, and so it's on to the 80's

I saw a kid in a pair of "Back to the future" style hightops, but all metallic, like moon boots. And his girlfriend had a little skirt on, with footless tights (leggings) and frilly socks and bo-bo style shoes. COmplete with off the shoulder shirt.

I got a good giggle out of it

Fashion is indeed cyclical. In the last year or so, I kept bumping into the horrible clothes that we women wore in the 1958-63 era: horrible, short boxy jackets; simple and short shifts; peter pan collars; no sewn waist line and horrible dressy coats. All we are missing are pill box hats.

If I had not thrown out my clothes back then, I could wear them again for this (re)cycle. They would still be awful, but I could at least save a fortune.
