      Paul Newman top 5, yes.
    2. raw280
Don't know if "Duke" can make top 25
    3. Shuttercraft
I live right next to John Wayne's old ranch!

Deer Creek Center- This majestic 850 acre property is situated at the gateway to the Illinois River Canyon. At one time a ranch and former playground of John Wayne, the property is now used to facilitate research teams, conferences and retreats, and is the year round home of the Siskiyou Field Institute.
    4. aningeniousname
I used to like John Wayne until I saw a film where he was an "heroic" investigator for the McCarthy hearings tracking down "Communist agents" in Hawaii. That kind of killed the heroic Image for me.
  4. MidwestMom
Lawrence Olivier and Marlon Brando come to mind.
    1. jeremyjanson
Love Brando, especially in Guys & Dolls.
  5. jcmonitor

    2. Jaybetee
that could be the only thing the two of us have in common
    3. Agit8r
I was being facetious. Hannity recently began boycotting Penn's movies. IDK why exactly

      Johnny'd be my vote, too.

"the headgehog" body looked like vomit, but we'll waive our normal body scale and consider his entry.
    8. jeremyjanson
I will never understand the appeal of Ron Jeremy.
    9. Agit8r
I've never understood the appeal of males in pornography
    10. jeremyjanson
      @Agit8r:

I know straight men don't like to admit to being able to tell if someone looks good or not, but straight women can and do, and I wonder if homosexuality is basically just the basic sixth sense of judging one's own attractiveness run wild. We'll call it the Narcissus Hypothesis.
    11. aningeniousname
You gotta have men in porno, it's so you can sit there and think "Jesus Christ! If she would sleep with him she would be all over me! I'm miles hotter than that guy!"
    12. jeremyjanson
That's hilarrious AIN, but I think she'll fall for the confederate flag speedo for sure, and then I can raise my jolly rogers!
  9. jeremyjanson
John Wayne. What a character! (Though he might be more star then actor.)

    2. wagerwitch
Mr Mom... "GOOOOOOOD MORNING VIETNAM" - Jumani... And soooo many more! He's very versatile, funny and touching at the same time.

And well. Ace Ventura, The Mask, Bruce Almighty, The Majestic, Cable Guy, Truman Show - almost ALL of his shows, besides the obvious Dumb and Dumber and Ventura/Mask have been extremely thought provoking, hard character studies - and usually a social commentary.
    3. raw280
I loved all those movies I just never considered them as leading men in Hollywood. I may have reconsider. Good Looking.
  15. farangrakthai
Al Pacino, I just love Al Pacino.
    And Sean Connery...

And Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs
  19. sarahalisonstargir
    Johnny Depp.

Robert Redford was the man too.
  20. davedol
Did anybody mention Steven Seagal? And I mean the fat aging version that does martial arts in slow motion. He’s the MAN!
    1. raw280
He put a smörgåsbord "Under Siege." Gravy train left a while back for him, literally.
  21. AndiBob
    Robert Downey Jr. forever .......................
  22. VisInVox
I'd have to call a tie.
Johnny Depp- Fabulous and strange in everything he's done. Infamous for Fear and Loathing. It takes talent to pull of the lunacy of HST, and he's about to do it again with Rum Diary.
Brad Pitt- I'm not terribly attracted to him, nor am I fond of him as a person, but between Fight Club and Se7en, you gotta give that boy credit. Flawless.
And Paul Newman- Because there isn't a single actor out there who couldn't use a lesson from this guy.
  23. legbamel
Jimmy Stewart and Danny Kaye have been long-time favorites. I love Christopher Walken, but it's more because he always plays the same guy (either in a funny way or a scary way) than because he's a good actor. Brad Pitt, despite being fairly seedy, does some fantastic things (witness Snatch). Every time I see a Robert Downey, Jr. film I'm pleasantly surprised by how good he really is.

Please don't hijack post, what's your favorite actor?
  28. MissSuzie
    Will Smith and Anthony Hopkins
    1. raw280
Miss Suzie, Will Smith? Come, on, deal breaker.
    2. MissSuzie
You asked me who I thought was the best male actor -- I happen to be very fond of Will Smith. Sorry.
    3. raw280
I like Will a lot and you know I respect your selection, but I need to see him pull off something "Denzelish." Hmm, what you think?
    4. MissSuzie
I like the fact that Will Smith doesn't feel the need to pull off anything other than what he does. He was brilliant in Seven Pounds (as well as many other movies he has done).
