Paul Newman was a great actor and was always worth watching. What were some of your favorite movies with Paul Newman? Here are a few of mine:

Cool Hand Luke. A classic with the memorable line, "What we've got here is a failure to communicate."

The Color of Money. Another classic. Probably his best role.

Nothing beats Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, IMO - Newman and Redford, both in their glory days .... sigh.

    I liked The Sting, too.

Just thinking about the closing scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid still gives me chills.

Not sure anyone can match the on-screen dynamics between him and Robert Redford.

A sad post...I lived in Westport for a while and we used to run into Newman occasionally around town. Those blue eyes would just stop the otherwise unflappable women cold.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is my fave

I think Cool hand Luke was the best film he made, but I think everyone can agree he was a good guy. Here was a guy unaffected by the life long fame and adulation heaped on him, a guy who right till the end of his life tried to do good work and help people.

Funny that to me he was like fine wine. the older the better he got..

And lets not forget his food company, from which he made nothing and the proceeds went to charity. Every cent of it.

    Class act, all the way.

Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the Hustler.

Generally, even though not everything he did was great, his presence in a film was a sign of quality--the guy just didn't do the kind of flashy cheese that fills summertime movie screens these days. There really aren't many major movie stars I could say that about.

The Verdict. With the Road to Perdition being a close second.

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof! Loved most everything he did and all that he represents. A true gentle, man.

Okay, here's one that's not one of those definitive classics that I'm still pretty fond of: Nobody's Fool.
