Never in my life have I ever heard of Fry Bread ... but, having looked at your blog, I find it quite interesting.

I would hazard a guess that I would be very happy if it had bananas and chocolate on them!!! Kind of a hearty crepe.

    I love fry bread.

I like it plain buttered with a little powdered sugar. I also like it with steak or chicken strip tacos. Indians have a version of fry bread called bhaturi which is divine with spicy curries.

I just witnessed my very first glimpse of "fry bread" on your blog. It looks good so I'll have to put it on the "try this recipe list" and get back to you about toppings.

The site on there has alot of diffrent ones. I usually use the ones that have yeast but I was out of it tonight. I like this recipe too. It is simple. I am making fried apples to go on the few I have left over with cinnamon and sugar.

When I was in college I had a roomie who was Sioux. When she got the urge to cook, fry bread was the first thing on the list. I had never had it before, but it was love at first bite!

Toppings? Nothing. I just tore it apart and used it like a tortilla with the rest of the meal. Good all by itself!

My mother always made French Fried Bread, but it doesn't appear to be similar.

With French Fried Bread, you take stale, thick slices of bread (challah is best), soak each slice in a bowl of beaten egg and milk mixture, drip off the excess batter, then fry slowly in hot butter. When golden brown, pat dry with kitchen paper, sprinkle with sugar and eat while hot.

Are you familiar with this dish, amybyrd? I wouldn't make it now because of its heart-stopping, artery-clogging levels of cholesterol and fat, but all the children LOVED it back in the day.
